Thanks for sharing, Jenny. This information is very helpful. My Roemie had his right front limb amputated due to Osteosarcoma. He is on the 3rd treatment of Carboplatin; the first two resulted in vomiting (only once each treatment). His appetite has never been consistent, and I noticed a severe drop in interest in eating after this third round, though his CBC results have been good. My Oncologist suggested a change in pain management , which seems to help. I'm not sure if he is being finicky or if something else is going on with his liver or kidneys.
I'm sorry to hear Arya did not make it to the final dose. I'm holding my breath while trying to remain hopeful that Roemie will finish the treatments and enjoy a few more years chemo and cancer free. I'm also considering acupressure as an alternative to pain management . There is so much medication that makes Roemie lethargic, and the drop in the white blood count may be wreaking havoc on his stomach lining.
Has anyone used acupressure to treat pain? Does anyone have a dog that lived years after chemotherapy?
Hi Lisa,
Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post away. It was nice chatting today. I hope Roemie starts feeling better soon!
You ask great questions. Please post them separately by starting a new topic here, in order to keep this one on topic. We can also help you better that way. Thanks!
Hi Jeremy,
I'm so sorry she's not feeling well. Sometimes that can happen, so definitely let your vet know. Next time they can dial in the chemo dosage so it doesn't hit her as hard. Meanwhile you can ask for an anti-nausea medication like Odansetron or Cerenia, and an appetite stimulant like Entyce, also additional pain control if her pain signals continue. Please keep us posted.
