222 days after his diagnosis; 6 months after SRT and 2 months after completing chemo, his osteo spread to his back left leg. We’re out of options. He started favoring it last Friday, and we had X-rays today… the bone is hollow and completely eaten by the cancer. We were hoping for a week, for one more trip to the cabin and one more chance to swim the lake, but his pain has become unmanageable over the course of the day after returning from the vet. We’re in for a long night, and we’ll be saying goodbye tomorrow.
squish your babies extra tight for us. Thank you for all the support over the last, most awful, 7 months of my life.
Una, I am so sorry about this. What an awful shock! 222 days with stereotactic radiation therapy treatment helping him keep his leg is remarkable but of course, not long enough. Cancer is so mean!
Our community collectively mourns when we lose one of our furmily members, we all understand what it's like to fight the good fight, and do everything we can for our animals. I hope you can find a way through the heartache to remember that Boone knew was sooo loved from the day he found you and now, as an angel, his love and wisdom will always be a part of who you are. That will never fade.
Today we light a candle for Boone, and are keeping you close in our hearts. May his spirit love on forever, and shine on you wherever you go. Thank you for letting us know.
Our dear sweet Boone....so very, very sorry to read this. He, and you, were such fighters , true Warriors. You and he gave it your all, and then some!
As far as Boone was concerned, he didn need "one more swim, one more cabin trip" He had enough of those memories to carry with him eternally. . The scales were tipping out of his favor quickly and he knew you would release him when his earthly body was no longer allowing him to be Boone.
You filled him with love and joy everyday, far more than many dogs could ever hope for, and he is taking all that with him as he heads to the Bridge.
The journey had it's challenges, but they truly were just a blip in the screen of life compared to the Happy time he had with you. He did get extended quality time and beat the odds....beat the "statistics ". Boone did things his way and forged his own path forward
We know the weight of grief and sadness that awaits you. The void and break in routine will take you to your knees time and time again. And nothing we can say will ease that. We do u derstand though far better than most who jave never been on this path. We do know you will eventually find comfort in the wonderful memories that will help your heart hea...ever so slowly.....
When you can, please share more of Boone' earth life with us. We fell in love with him from day one and were so inspired by your devotion to him....and his to you.
Surrounding you with Boone's love, unbreakable bond and eternal light that can never be dimmed......ever
