Hi from the UK!

We collected Barney today. Waiting to see him in the hospital was a feeling of both elation and trepidation.......I also felt very tearful.

Anyway, after a chat about aftercare with the specialist, he was brought in to meet us. We saw him pulling the vet down the corridor!!!!! The vet took off his dressing to show us the wound. It is very neat and the part where Barney managed to scratch out his staples isn't too big and the vet not overly worried about or the extent of his bruising, seeing that he had a very large tumour removed and also a mass on his lymph. He wanted him to go home as more chance of infection staying in the hospital!

I was a little tearful when I saw the wound......I just felt a little sad at that moment...but Barney didn't see my tears...I was giving him a big cuddle.

The vets are quite amazed at Barney's stamina and his ability to already 'cock' his leg without falling over! We tried to stop him jumping in the car......but he was so quick!

He has been quite tired since we got home.... probably his medication and just pleased to be back.

He already got the small dressing off that was put on by the vet, so have taken advice posted to me on this site and used a large nappy (diaper), held in place with some sticky bandage and finished off with a t shirt...albeit a little on the large size! Bless him!

He is being checked out by my local vet over the next two days and the stitches come out in 10 days.

I am sure he is going to be ok...we all just have to get used to 'hopping' and this site is brilliant....it's great to know there are others out there coping with the same emotions and that there are lots of other happy tripawds enjoying life to the full!

I will keep you posted on Barneys progress and thanks to allwho have sent wishes to him.

I am trying to upload a photo, just need to get the size right!!!

Best wishes

Sue, John and Barney

We're sure Barney will be OK too. Any lethargy at this point is just reactions to the pain medication. What he needs most right now is lots of rest and time to recuperate.

Here afre instructions for embedding photos in forum posts if you need help. Can't wait to see this Bouncing Barney!

So glad to hear Barney is home.  You will almost certainly have a resting dog for a while.  Trouble slept long hours during her recovery.  Part of it is th ehealing process and part of it is the meds.  He will be back to his old self in no time.
