OK it seems like this is how Bailey's chemo runs... she gets weaker and then doesn't want to eat and then now two week later she has an infection (it's not a UTI) her urine has been tested.  She is totally red in her girl area and it looks like blisters.  I have been very careful this time and cleaning her area after she goes outside.  Today she is totally miserable.  I called VSS which is where her oncologist is and I'm waiting for a return call.  The last time they sent us to our regular vet and they put her on Cephelexin which made her sick to her stomach.  Anyone have any suggestions?  She's a 4 week carbo chemo patient because her blood drops to 680 at the 3 week part.  We have had 4 scheduled for the 4th on the 22nd but I hate seeing her like this.

HELP.

I forgot to mention to you (in my mail to you) that we have Lily on Proviable-a doggy probiotic-that might help Bailey's stomach on antibiotic. We keep Lily on it all the time.

Joan and Lily

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

Oh Tracy I'm so sorry to hear that, poor gal. How is she doing?

I wish I had some suggestions here but all I can offer are {{{{{hugs}}}}}. I hope she's feeling better. At least you know the Cephelixin isn't the answer for her this time.  Let us know what the vet suggests.

This jist doesn't seem "right"! I can't remember, bt it seems none of your earlier responses from your previius posts about this revealed any body else who jad these issues. Yeah, maybe some nausea or lack of appetite for a day or so, even a little lethargy. But it jist seems something is really off here.

Have yoj gne for a second opinion anywhere?

Is t "possible" tat she's actualyhaving an allergic reaction to the chemo itself?? We just had a sitution on here where the dog was actualy allergic to the chemo (Cytoxan)...she posted just a few days ago...the dog'd name is Chance.

Also, plesse post thisnder Ask A Vet and include the info from the previus reactins...the peeing, the being well for weeks.....etc.

I am soooooo sorry you are going through this. I can COMPLETELY understand yor fear with proceeding with another round. This may indeed be a case where the treatment is causing her more harm than good. I jist wish I knew how to help you more or suggest a resoirce for you.

Does the Onco indicate that three rounds could do some good at all? I woud realy have to weigh the risks in proceeding with a fourth. There are NO guarntees with or withut chemo. As you've already seen here, some seem to get extended quality time with it...some not at all. Some seem to get extended quae tme without it.....some not at all.

It jist seems she's realy aving a bad reaction tht is actualy compromising her quality as opposed to helping it.

Sendingyo all the best wishes possible and a hope that a solution can be created that will help Bailey feels better and get all her sparkle back!

PLEASE keep us posted and do consider posting under the Ask Vet.

And I do want to thank you for your kind note about my Happy Hannah. Here you are in the middle of your own "turmoil" offering me support! I'm REALY, REALLY glad to know the impact shejad on you. Thank you. I'"ve told Happy Hannah she needs to be watchingover Baiey with a little more diligence! So hopefuly you'll see Bailey feeling better soon!

Sending lots of love and hugs!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hey everyone Bailey is doing much better.  She's being soooo silly.... I love when she is back to herself and feeling good.  The onco said give it a few days use baby wipes to clean her after her business outside.  Sooo that's my duty and it's pretty comical sliding under her and cleaning her... no I will not post a picture... she just stands there.

I wanted to thank everyone for all the support and feedback.  Bailey will go for round 4 on the 22nd and saying prayers all goes well.  We finally found a food that she likes and it's the Blue Buffalo Wilderness - Fish/Salmon... she actually runs to her food bowl!  Yeah!!!

OK so I'm trying to post a picture... I'm not really good at this part.

Thanks everyone.

HUGS
