OK TRI-PAWD FAMILY

Here's a new one...

Bailey is having a tough time getting up she's trying to use the leg that's no longer there... then her back legs get twisted and she falls...

I'm just wondering why she is trying to use that side when she never had a problem with it before?

It's sad and she looks at me for help (I'm right there.)  It will be 6 Months August 7, 2014.

Anyone experience this and/or talk to their oncologist about this?

HUGS,

Tracy and Bailey

Hi Tracy! sorry to read about this new situation.  Hopefully someone with a similar experience will hop in and share some piece of advice.  I would put a harness on to help her out and try to keep her calm for the moment.

Good luck!

Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

It sounds like she may need some conditioning exercises. Consider reading Loving Life On Three Legs for plenty of recommendations, professional tips and how-to videos! You may also want to consult with a certified rehab vet (instead of your oncologist) if problems persist. Please keep us posted.

GEEZ BAILEY GIRL!!!

You get a big YAAAAAAY because, according to your other post, your mom jand feed you and you ate! Are you trying to get even more spoiling and make Bella even more jealous??

So Bailey's not showing any real signs pain, right? How many times has this happened? It could be something as simple as her leg falling asleep, a leg cramp...something not too awful at all. Once she's up is she walking around okay?

Maybe before she gets up, massage her legs and up and down her spine really welll just to ensure circulation.

It could indeed be as Admin said, and she needs conditioning exercises.

Daniela made a good point ab o ut a harness or towel sling to help her up.

Look forward to y o ur update AND videos!!! If I can do them, anyone can!!!

Hugs and love to you and Bailey and Bella too!

Bailey has been doing his for a few days but we thought she was just confused with her leg not being there.  But she loves to lay on that side where her amp is and that makes it hard to get up because she doesn't have anything to push up on.  I will definitely look into conditioning.  She sleeps a lot but both my girls 10 and 7 always have as they have gotten a little youngersmileybut these ortho beds are super comfy my daughter likes to steal one if she gets there first and she's 22!  I'm wondering if I should put them in another bedroom so maybe she will stay up... we play and play with her she hates her feet to be touched she gives you that growl like don't touch my foot...

To me it looks like when she is walking she wants to swing her left leg almost like she's sick of hoping and wants to walk... trust me she's trying.

Anyway, I spent a lot of time on here last night and Bailey needs to eat so... 2nd time around for let's make a deal...

Someone on here said try feeding her laying down Egyptian statue style (not sure if you get the picture.) But to take the weight off of her... but the shoveling continues!

Hope this works for those who haven't seen her.

Happy Danesday!

P.S. On to let's make a deal!

Hey Tracy and Bailey!

I see your on here now...good! Wanted to check in on Bailey and you...

So did she sleep any better last night? Still crying?? Did you give her any pain pills? Does.she cry during day and if she's walking?

Ask vet about Prednisone...anti I.flammatory and will stim u late appetite...and clearly needs an appetite stimulant!

Also...do you think her tummy is upset at all....like nauseous upset? Maybe she needs something to coat her tummy.

AND yes...click on Amazon here and you can order the BOOK.....if mine wasn't so dog eared and worn out, I'd send it to you.

OK..gonna go try and see your pics...pretty sure it's gonna say I have to join though.....

I'll be on here a bit so I'll check back with you shortly.

WRAPPING YOU TWO UP IN LOVE,!!!!!!!

Sally and Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Tracy,

I believe you can download the book to your computer, even without a Kindle.

Regarding the feeding position, here is Johnnie in the way he feels more comfortable:

For some reason, my photos don't appear when I juse the icon above, only the link.  Could it be the Google Drive?

Tracy, how is she today? What kind of floor surface is she laying on when this happens? Does it happen all the time or just when she is laying on the amp side? Yep, building those core muscles will help her to use them in order to get up. She's a big dawg, it takes a lot of effort to get up so it's not that unusual, but is she showing any signs of pain when she's trying?

As for the book, all you need is Adobe Acrobat to read it, no special software other than a PDF reader to check it out.

I think I'm all over with this new issue, I apologize.  Bailey is having trouble when she's getting up she can't figure out how to uncross her legs.  We didn't have this problem at the beginning.  We have runners on all wood floors actually taped down with clear tape and anti-rug slide.  She's crossing her back legs when she's trying to walk also we noticed and she's stumbling.  She won't even go up one step.

I did talk to VSS a few minutes ago and I'm praying for a left pulled muscle from a slip out the garage (one step) my daughter was taking her out and she looked back waiting for me because I have to be there and she fell.  But it doesn't explain the crossing of the back legs they said that sound neurological...   that's probably why she's crying because she can't reposition her self at night and she's uncomfortable.

Ok to give tramadol up to 4 tonight.

I'm sick I know I need a back bone... you guys have heard it all from me.

Hi Tracy!   Could be a disc injury in her lower back, because of the slip in the garage? Although I am not a doctor, I have had disc issues myself, and doctors do qualify this as a "neurological" issue, even though not in the brain.  Unfortunately this is a diagnosis that will not be able to be given over the phone - most likely at least an x-ray will be necessary.  Hope the pain medication makes her more confortable as an SOS until you can get her checked.

Rough night and day.  She's on two tramadol and she goes at 2:30.  I am beside myself right now because I don't think this is fair to her. But I know things will get better, just real nervous right now.

Jerry I am all over the place with this issue if you want to delete this something or I can check on this thread.  I'm sorry.
