I wish Brandy a speedy recovery and a long, happy life! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Lisa

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

I think the thing going for Brandy that most of us don't have is age. Brandy is very young, where the majority of our cancer victims are approaching their elderly years.

Sending tons of good thoughts for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery and adjustment period. You guys will definitely be in my thoughts.

Teresa,

So will Brandy have her two right limbs remaining?

Please check out my dog Fifty - facebook.com/bionicfifty

he's a 5, almost 6 year old pitbull with only his two left legs. He has no cart and gets along just fine (lost his legs 4 years ago).

He's in the process of learning how to use a prosthetic for his right rear amputation which was done just above the knee.

I hope watching his videos and seeing how well he gets along makes this easier for you too. You might not need the quad cart!!

Sincerely,

Kelly, another bi-pawd mama

Hello everyone in Tripawd land,

Well, the final decision has been made for us, we are not able to go thru with the surgery as planned.  We took Brandy in today, and in her pre-surgical screening, the doctor found 2 tumors in her lungs and one growing on one of her ribs.  Sadly, there is nothing more that can be done for her.  Putting her thru any more trauma is completely unnecessary at this stage.  Unfortunantly, because progression of these new tumors came on so quickly, her vet believes she has 60-90 days.  But does anyone really know how long they have?  On her original tumor, the doctor and specialist said a maximum of 4-6 months was all we could hope for.  On August 18th, Brandy will have been kicking cancer's butt for 1 year and 3 months.  It is such a bummer that we cannot do anything more for her.  The vet said to watch for any caughing or difficulty breathing and to bring her in immediately if anything should change.  Brandy will continue to enjoy her days napping, swimming and enjoying mai-tai's and treats.  We are still going thru with her personalized wheel chair .  She can have fun being more mobile for as long as possible and we can keep as much pressure off that bad leg.  She is also using her Orthopet's leg brace on the leg with the tumor for added stability while walking.  We ordered Artemisinin for her and we will let you all know how this new regimine goes.  If anyone has any other information for us, we would appreciate it.  We do not know if there is anything else to make her more comfortable while dealing with lung MET's.  We will keep you all posted on how she is doing smiley

Thank you again for all of your love and support,

Teresa, Brandy and the family

I'm so sorry you find yourself at this point in your journey with Brandy. Although no amount of time ever seems enough, try to find joy in the many months you have had, as well as those to come. Sometimes these most difficult days help us take the greatest pleasure in the smallest routines...those that help fill our hearts in the future.

Relish your time together, enjoy her and love her....that's all Brandy asks of you.

I am so sorry to hear this news. It is so hard to get to this point, but you have the right attitude. No one knows how long Brandy will have. That simply means you enjoy each moment you are given.

Sending good thoughts for Brandy in the days to come. Fight hard sweetheart.
