Hello to all.

Johnnie is 8 1/2 months post-amp and up to now lungs are clear and blood exams came out ok also, although his red blood count is in the lower mark.

After the 6 rounds of carboplatin, Johnnie has been on the following protocol:  K-9 Immunity Plus twice a day (breakfast and dinner), and Apocaps twice a day (1h before lunch and at 11pm).

Johnnie is doing fine with the Apocaps , but I am wondering: should I be giving him Artemisinin as well?  would this be more effective than Apocaps alone?

Reading Dr. Dressler's book and also following the "Artemisinin and Cancer" Yahoogroup, I haven't found an answer of what is more effective.  He only says that if you want to give both you can, rotating Apocaps and Artemisinin ( 5 days + 5 days ).  Anyone have any experience or info on this?

regards,

Daniela

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

It's so great to hear updates about Johnnie :) YAY is right!

I don't know, I go back and forth between thinking that when it comes to cancer, rotating is good since the body doesn't get used to one type of anti-cancer therapy. On the other hand if something is working . . .

My thinking is that there is more evidence / studies behind the individual anti-cancer properties in Apocaps than Artemisinin.

Only advice I would give on this as someone who does use alternative medicine to compliment chemotherapy is to run anything you want to give to your dog whilst on chemo, past the oncologit first.  Some supplements can interferre with the effectiveness of chemotherapy.  My oncologist told me that the dose of calcium ascorbate (vitamin c) the alternative vet had prescribed was too high and to knock it back to half what she advised.  So thats what I did.

Hey Daniela! No words of advice, but I was wondering...how many K9 IMmunity plus wafers do you give Johnnie? It says 2-4 and Jilly is 55 lbs so I wanted to see what you did and if Johnnie is close to her weight? :)

Hi Kim.   Johnnie is now a slim 90 lbs - he is a big boy.  I give him six wafers a day (3 with breakfast, 3 with lunch) so I would say the ratio would be 1 for every 15 lb.

Johnnie was having stomach issues, so I changed the Apocaps dosage. He is taking Apocaps only once a day, 4 capsules at 11pm, with a bit of liverwurst.

good luck with Jilly!

Thanks! I read somewhere a few minutes ago that if the dog is in remission, give 2 but if not give 4. I'm guessing even though they didn't see any cancer in her anywhere else than the leg, it's obviously in there somewhere. :(

I want to do the apocaps , however, they are a little pricey for us right now. I think it would be like $60 for 15 days worth by their recommendations.

Good luck with Johnnie as well! It sounds like he's doing great!

Dr. Dressler's Dog Cancer Survival Kit is filled with valuable information, and include an Apocaps coupon.

You can do bulk order with Apocaps ----- they have special program for large dog .You just need to call them -- phone on bottle. My dog Ben weights 80 lbs now and he was approved for that program. But you need to buy 10 bottles :(((------$ 427.

I get my Apocaps from http://www.k9me.....cinals.com. They offer three bottles for $176.99.

Fyi, you can usually find a discount coupon for them as well.
