Hello!

I hope your sweet Silas has had a perkier recovery since the first post.  My Daphne is about 9 years old and we went through left forelimb amputation this past May.  She had excruciating phantom limb pain for at least 2.5 weeks and then still would have random pains for several months.  She doesn't scream or whine like she used to but she will randomly jump off the couch or jump up and run away from a spot as if something hurt her. It was absolutely devastating, broke my heart and soul to hear her cry.  She didn't know what was going on and there was nothing I could do but hold her.  It's a marathon not a race, that's for sure.

We have used a combination of gabapentin and carprofen, the gaba has helped with any anxiety and my onc says that carprofen has some anti cancer properties in addition to pain relief. I also started her on CBD oil as soon as I could to help with pain and anxiety, we've mostly used petreleaf that you can get from different pet stores but we will sometimes use other supplements, chews and treats.

I hope things are getting better if they haven't already improved!

Michelle thank you so much for sharing Daphne's story, it's so helpful for others to see that there is hope during recovery.

Please consider starting an all new topic about Daphne so that we can follow along and help when you need it. Can't wait to learn all about your pack!
