Such good news today!! Tess is 21weeks post amputation and 4 weeks post her last (5th) carboplatin and her chest X-Rays today showed nothing!!
Before amputation she didn't have visible mets on her lungs either. So we have decided no metronomic meds right now.
We didn't go for a CT scan today, just stuck with X-Rays. I'm becoming over treatment and causing her to feel sick, so I'm sure Tess was completely sick of it months ago. I didn't really want her to have an anaesthetic today. All being well, we don't have to go back until 2 months for more X-rays.
Last week we had hot weather here and Tess was exhibiting some difficulties in the conditions, she panted for ages and was even shaking her head so much I thought she may have a brain tumour, but that stopped. The vet couldn't see anything wrong with her ears today, so it was probably just hair annoying her. I also think her only front leg and foot is feeling the pressure and is causing her pain. The vet felt it and thinks the elbow is arthritic, but nothing showed in a leg X-ray before amputation so it's probably wearing faster due to increased weight bearing. I think that actually the foot is more the problem, she growls at me when I try to feel her foot and she did the same thing to the vet.
There's a lot of worry off our shoulders now we know we have some time to enjoy summer. She is only 10, but I am going treat her like an old granny dog for as long as I can, being gentle with her poor remaining front leg and spoiling her rotten. Best thing is that I only have 4 weeks of work before our summer holidays and I'm not travelling anywhere, so then I'll be home with her every day and we can go to the beach and the park and enjoy life.

YAAAAAAAAAY FOR TESS!! We love reasons to celebrate around here, and Tess sure has given us big reasons!!
You are doing a great job of becoming more and more BEING DOG! Staying in tbe moment, free from worries...good job Mom!
Yeah, heat is hard on three leggers and almost everyone here will tell you they have seen increased panting, even at rest, on warm days.
Do you have Tess on Glucosamine and Chondroitin? That seems to really help tripawds. Maybe even a visit to a rehab specialist.
Now, you know when you nave things like this to celebrate, we must have pictures of your beautiful Tess!!
Ice cream and cake for everyone!!
Love and hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
YEEHAAAWW! Really hoppy for the good news from your pack, that's wonderful!
Jerry used to pant heavily in hot weather too. We always got scared thinking it was mets, but nope, it was the weather. He probably always did that in hot weather but we didn't notice because didn't fret over him as much before cancer.
Keep an eye on her foot and front limb. Those front-leggers can experience wrist problems very easily. Check out this blog post and if you suspect there's pain involved it might be a good idea to see a rehab vet.

Tess is beautiful! Is she a Dobe? (avatar looks like it); my Dobe is also 10 and a front legger - 17 mos post amp. Yay for good news!
Paula and Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
"Be good, mama loves you".....run free my beautiful Warrior
Lisa great news on Tess' X-rays! Yay for her! One thing I've learned on this journey is to not worry about tomorrow and just live fully today just like our Max does. Worry doesn't change anything except to rob me of the joy of my today. Enjoy your summer and like you said enjoy just being with your beautiful Tess and spoiling her to the moon and back! Give that beautiful Tess a big hug from us!
Linda & Max
So happy for you
