Hi all,

Well it seems after reading a few posts that there has been good news amoungst the group!!!  We like runs of good luck instead of the opposite. Some dogs finishing up their chemo treatments and having clear Xrays.

So Koda is 11 months post diagnosis and he had his Lung Xrays Friday and they are still the same with no masses obvious!!!  Woohoo!!!!  I am relieved as we leave for our holiday Thursday and I wanted to do them before I went away because I thought we will be another month behind by the time we get back if we had to start any medication if anything was found.  So we did it.  I thought the vet was a bit hesistant this time and was going to tell me bad news but it was good!!!!  And he threw in Koda's tummy worm tablets becuase the bill was quite high.  He did get the works, Pavo Kennel cough and heart worm yearly injections, and then ear drops.  I hope his immune system wasn't stretched and given a work out as it was this time last year he had his annual injections and then less than a month later he was diagnosed and tripawd.  I don't know how those infections affect dogs immunity systems but I guess what they are protecting him from would be a lot worse...

Well Koda and I are going to go and cuddle up and get as much "us" time in before we go away.  I'll write again when we are back from our holiday and by then we'll be having 12 month celebrations!!!!

Storm and Koda:)

I think it is an individual vet decision whether or not they give injections.  After chemo, Trouble has had no vaccinations at all.  Because we live on the Gulf Coast and heartworms are a threat year round, he has kept her on heartworm preventive and that is all.

I carry a letter with me that says she has not been vaccinated because of medical conditions, that she is under veterinary care, and is disease free.

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

superstarsuperstarHoppy, hoppy 11months, Koda!!  YAY!!!  And congrats on the clear xrays!superstarsuperstar

Harley, like Trouble, didn't receive his vaccinations this year (he was only due for rabies, I believe), but does take his heartworm pill every month & Frontline for ticks.  We have a letter we had to sign saying he has not been vaccinated due to medical reasons, and that we are aware we would have to quarantine him for 10 days if a bite would occur.

Have a great trip!!smile

Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

CONGRATS Koda!!!  And bless you for being so strong that you gave your mom one less thing to worry about (one VERY BIG THING) while she is away.  It's a sign confirming that you should not feel guilty about going, Storm. winker

Congratulations Koda! You gave me inspiration to reach MY 11 (and12) month ampuversay, even though I have a ways to go I know I can do it! Mom went to the pet store and got extra special cookies (oatmeal, "chocolate"chip, and sandwich cookies) to help celebrate the good news. Last month she gave me ice cream and boy did I like it! However, it didn't like me, and dad had to clean up a mess on the kitchen floor blush. Maybe I'm lactose intolerant.  Anyway, I still get steak sometimes and those really good cookies! Thanks for sharing your great news! Hope your pawrents have a great vacation! Let us know what they bring home for you smile

Sadie & Sadie's mom

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Happiness... smiley

Thnaks all for your wonderful support.  It definately puts my mind at ease a little bit about going away.  I think we get to scared to put our minds fully at ease in case we jinx ourselves and our dogs...  I keep telling Koda he has to look after our house mate and the house.  I don't know if it is doing Koda any good but it is helping me laugh hahaha.

It is getting cold here and it is so cute to see how much Koda can scrunch himself into the tightest ball now that he is misisng a front leg, got to be a few benefits to it.  I am sure he keeps in his body heat much better now with how tight he can curl...

Well I am off to go and watch some telly and cuddle with Koda.  2 more sleeps to go and we are off and Koda is in charge!!!

Love Storm and Koda 🙂
