Bobby tried to avoid the car, but it hit him anyway...and kept on driving! Some nice people took him to the vet's office, and as if a broken leg wasn't bad enough, they also found pellets from a bb gun in his leg. Someone had been using poor Bobby as target practice!

The damage to Bobby's leg was so great that this lovable dog has recently made the transition from four legs to three legs; he's much happier now that that pesky leg has been removed and is no longer hurting him.

And did we mention that Bobby is also undergoing treatment for heartworm? This little dumpling has been through a lot in his young life!

When you first meet him, Bobby is very timid and shy. Whatever his past was like, it's very clear that it wasn't filled with belly rubs and kind words. He looks at new people and then sighs deeply, as if to say "I'm so sorry - I'm trying so hard to be brave, but no one has ever been nice to me before. Can I trust you?"

Bobby was in an extreme amount of pain when he first came to the vet's office, and was clearly terrified - as scared as he was, and in as much pain as he was, he's never shown even the slightest hint of aggression. In his place, we definitely would have been tempted to give at least a nip here and there, but he's not so much as growled this whole time.

Bobby is truly a special dog. He's been through so much in his young life, and is trying so hard to be brave and to trust. He's currently in foster care right now, where he's learning that people mean safety, yummy treats, and belly rubs. Bobby enjoys the company of other dogs and would love a canine buddy or two! This gentle soul is really starting to blossom! After all he's been through, Bobby needs a hero, that's for sure - could it be you?

**********Update******* Bobby is now living life as a tri-pawed dog and is doing well with the transistion. He is in a foster home and learing everyday that this is a good world. He will start his Heartworm treatment on 12-27-11. You can find our adoption application at http://www.plan....._info.html.
