I'm going to copy and paste this from the Facebook post I received. I will attempt to insert a picture, but I may require Jim or Rene's help! Please note I am not asking for donations for this kitty, just posting his info as he is about to become a Tripawd and is in need of a home!

On Saturday July 19, 2014 someone just dumped their cat at Petco in Colonie. We were doing a kitten adoption event at Petco in Latham. Petco in Colonie called me to ask what they should do with the cat since the person came in with it. I did not know this person nor did I allow this kitty to be brought there. Our cats go to the veterinarian first before they are allowed to be with the others. This was not welcomed! However knowing how people can be, I feared for the cat’s sake, I asked the Petco employees to put him in the empty kennel at the store.
July 25th was the scheduled day he had for his appointment so the vet could tell me the condition of Maxi. Well……bad news! He has feline leukemia, has cancer in his front left leg, and has a heart murmur and two teeth to be pulled. And he’s between 8-10 years old. Since he is still happy, full of life and not in any pain I think we should keep him alive till he tells us its time. He looks healthy as can be! He has captured the eyes of many while he was in Petco in Colonie.
Since the x-rays show that he has cancer in his leg it will have to be amputated. Even though he has a problem with his leg it has not stopped him from walking. Blood testing showed his heart murmur not to be a threat for surgery. Neither his feline leukemia. He also had a chest x-ray and that proved to clear him for surgery as well.
We need to raise some funds just for Maxi's amputation surgery. If anyone of you would like to donate that would be very much appreciated. Make checks payable to Happy Cat Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 5424, Albany, NY 12205 and please mark it for Maxi's surgery. We appreciate your kindness from the bottom of our hearts. Please still keep Maxi in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you everyone.
Maxi will need a home when he has recovered. Please keep him in mind if you know anyone willing to give him a home once he is well again. He is an awesome cat. He has a very nice disposition. If you may be interested or know someone please feel free to call me any time (518) 861-6850 Home, (518) 334-3195 Cell.

Thank you!

According to Happy Cat Rescue, Maxi cannot leave the hospital until he finds a home. I know he's a tough case because of the Feline Leuk, but it's still worth a shot to share!
