I love Baggins name! But I didn't want to speak up. Plus, you can do, "Bags" and "Baggie" as pet names. And something else...you are already used to having an "en" sound at the end of a name. I think Baggins will roll off your tongue so easily.
Try having a Comet or Rocket! "ET" endings are not my friend. Pet names for me are "Com", "Commy Com" and "Rocks", "Rocky "Rock-a-roo". That's all I can get out of their names.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Wait a minute....Comet, not wanting to speak up?
Is the sky falling????

Update from Salt Lake City …
It's true, "Baggins" is an excellent road dog. On the road for nearly 7 hours and barely knew he was in the truck the whole trip. Will meet Jennifer tomorrow morning so he can keep heading West to his new home with Dawn. We get the feeling he is just happy to be out of that shelter.
Some road names to consider based on our travles together if a change is in his future:
Diesel – because we fueled up when we first met and he got in the drivers seat
BJ – As in BJ and the Bear
Bear – See above, besides he could use to shed a few pounds
Bandit – As in Smokey and … not to mention hs cute mask
Miles – For the many he has traveled
And a few more considering some of the random music he's enjoyed along the way:
Hank
Ozzy
Shooter
But I digress, here's what everyone's waiting for …

He is a handsome boy! Did someone bathe him? I'm wondering where the ever-present Taos dust is. Looks like a decent job was done on his amputation, too.
I bet he's glad to be out of that shelter. Breaks my heart to think of all the others still there, and the millions more in better and worse places than Stray Hearts. This boy has a beautiful soul, it just shines out from his face in these photos. I hope I get to meet him someday.
Beth
Beth with my beloved Tshuvah, 10 year old "TaosDog". Provisional diagnosis osteosarcoma on 6/10/10, amputation of left foreleg same day, firm diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma 6/24/10. Set free on 9/9/10. Treasured forever.

Who cares what "we" name him! He'll always be a tripawd road warrior to us!
And Jerry, Cometdog is turning a new leaf! NT!!!!
Admin, I know you are dead tired and may not have noticed that the pic with the envelope to Dawn has her address and phone # clear enough to read - so, I deleted the photo. It's better to be safe than sorry. (This is coming from a person who has had a stalker AND has been broken into while at home. So, forgive me if I over-react!)

What a ride ole Baggins is taking. It is so wonderful there are folks out there willing to donate their time to give a rescue a loving home. And Mr Baggins - how handsome you are. Dawn will be a great new mom for you.

My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
Just got this from Jennifer's iPhone through Tamsen:
I can't believe what a good traveller this guy is! Considering he has been in a shelter for so long and a stray at large before that, right off the bat, he is so "normal" with apparently no neurosis from his experience of homelessness. Rescue dogs are such an inspiration to me. Betty, my senior bully from a puppy mill for 6 years and a laundry room/garage for 4 more, came here at 10 years old and bounced for me when I got home from work the first day like she was here her whole life. They are so willing to LET GO OF THE PAST, not hold a grudge and forgive us humans and trust us so openly. I always say that God put dogs here on earth to inspire us to be better people.
I am sooo excited, but this last day has been a bit meloncholy for me. 6 months since I lost Raven and I was adjusting to my New Normal with just Betty. I am so excited to have a "portable" dog again (Betty has to be carried or go in her stroller for anything over 50 feet due to arthritis). I keep thinking of having him with me for farm chores, etc. But it keeps reminding me of Raven, which I guess I hadn't allowed myself to think about in a while so that I could heal.
I know once he gets here and settled, it'll open a new chapter in my life and that will be wonderful! But until he arrives, I just keep thinking of the empty place that Raven once filled. I think of him with a smile on my face and sadness in my heart.
Counting down to 4pm PST... 🙂
Rottie Raven, osteosarcoma at 8-1/2 years old, amputation in October '09 and in February '10 due to liver mets he went back to heaven where he came from. raven.tripawds.com
Now I have Miles, rottie mix amputee from a shelter and traveled 1500 miles to find his way here through the Rescue Railroad thanks to tripawds.com. miles.tripawds.com
Oh Dawn, once you see this guy (with a tail and all) your troubles are going to float away! It won't be exactly the same but - oh my gosh, you guys are going to have fun!
The one thing I've learned about shelter dogs is, their true personality flourishes with time in a loving and interactive home. If he is already a sweet guy, you are going to have one special pooch! You are going to always have Raven in your heart but that's why we are blessed to have enough love for those that follow.
I never thought I'd fall deeply in love with Rocket (aka Monkeybutt) because he's not big, he's not black, he's not furry and he's not perfect. He was to be Comet's dog, not mine. Just like Rugby was Comet's dog. And I am finding I am becoming very attached to his adorable personality (even if it's annoying most of time).
He's been jumping in my lap while I drink coffee at the table in mornings! After his quits chewing my ear and settles down, I realize how nice it is to have such a mobile little dog. He still has his little temper tantrums on Comet that bothers me but he won't bite her and he does feel terribly sorry afterwards and begs her for forgiveness. So, maybe time will make him a perfect dog. He'll never have soft fur that you want to cuddle but his little face is growing on me.

P.S.
Can you guys bring me this dog from that Taos shelter? (I wished) That face with a grin just melts me!
