A bit about Mame:

I am her foster Mom.

Her story: She way picked up as a stray in Knoxville, TN by Youngs Williams Animal Shelter. The surgeon on staff did the amputation. I was contacted by my Bulldog Rescue (whom I have adopted and foster for before) to help with fostering and healing as I am a former vet tech. They did not know much about her.

Here's the good things about Mame:

She's awesome. Really. I am so surprised at how well she's done. Minor complications with the surgery as I was not given direct healing information on how much to limit her activity.

She runs, she jumps, she fetches (and then plays keep away!) up and down stairs are no problem on carpet. Jumping on to beds are no problem, though she will stay off if you tell her. She is crate trained 100%. She is house trained 100% She wiggles. All over. Her tail does not stop. She loves people. She wants to play. She wants your love. But she does not have a problem when you have to go---she goes into her crate and takes a nap until you come back. We really love her and have considered keeping her but we want what is best for her and our other animals.

She is a woogle dog. She wants to be with you are your side when you are here. Or next to your feet napping. As long as she's with you she is the most content dog on the planet IMO. She loves flipping over and wiggling herself across the floor.

Not so good things:

She currently lives in a home with 2 other dogs and 4 cats. She---does not get a long entirely with these dogs. We have a 100lb Doberman (who is submissive male) and a 45lb EBD (who is alpha female) She gets a long pretty well with the doberman. They play. They have fun. But if toys are involved----they are all hers and she gets snappy about it. Same with food and treats. We have been working with her on this and it's getting better. However she does not tolerate our smaller Alpha girl bulldog at all. Now OUR dog is fine for the most part. But Mame does not want to have her near. Again---we have been working with this and it could be helped if you have training experience, but it is a slow process. The cats? She really doesn't care. If they get up in her face she will chase them for 2 seconds and then walk away. Cats=Good. Dogs=So so.

She becomes a little fixated on toys sometimes taking them away can be a battle (she does not offer to ever bite a person, just runs off with them and jumps for them). She HATES the garden hose. Passionately. Now, you can give her a bath with it---is she doesn't see the water coming out. If she does---game on. She will try to eat the hose. She has cut her gums on them before, and crushed one hose end. I felt it would be a good idea to include that.

Summary:

If I were to consider the PERFECT home for her: It would be a home with older active kids (5yrs and up) with an older submissive larger breed dog (just bigger than her, ya know?). Cats would be fine. Just no alpha dogs, really young kids, or smaller dogs. Single dog house? Yep! But I think she would do well either way, and she reeeeally loves to play.

If you want anymore exact info on her please feel free to message me or e-mail me chewsbacon@yahoo.com I don't get the last word for where she goes but I'll give you all the info you need to see if she's right for you.

If it's out of state I know the SMBR works with MANY state rescues and we can work on getting her to where she needs to bebig-grin

OMD!!! You are a SAINT and Mame is ADORABLE!!!!

You have done a wonderful job with her. You have really gone above and beyond in giving such detailed descriptions of who Mame is snd what she needs for the perfect enviornment! She sounds like such a love bug...a high energy Bull Dog....LOVE her!!!

She will be someone's forever companion on this site in no time!! Of course, with everyone here on the site, we all have an affinity with tripawds anyway...and we would definitely keep that little bundle of love from jumping off things so she wouldn't nharm that remaining front leg........I just bet someone here will be the right kne for Mamme

And, again, applause to you for, not only doing such a wonderful job of loving her through all these challenges, but loving her enough to find a forever home!!

Thank you!!!

Sally and My Eternal Light Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

She is SO CUTE! Thank you for taking time to post her story here, and for giving her as great a foster home as possible. We'll help get the word out here and via social media, so be sure to update us occasionally so we know how things are going. Give her a smooch from us!

Mame is just the cutest thing!!  Who wouldn't fall in love with that beautiful mug of hers.

From the pictures she seems so happy and content which is a testament to the work you're doing as a foster.

Sending Mame a hug and kiss!!

Unfortunately after one week in her new home the adopter decided she could not make it work. We were not made aware on her application she had other animals (as we were told she did not) and she decided that training would not work for her.

She is back up for adoption at this time and will be returning to our home for foster.
