Thanks so much Sashadog. I heard from someone last night and sad for me but good for Buddy, he went to his foster-to-adopt family yesterday. I have to admit I am a little disappointment but like a said earlier, I believe in fate so this just wasn't meant to be! I just hope if the adoption goes through the new owners will know of this place and we see him on here so I can watch he grow into the GRRREAT dog I know he will become
Cheers,
Teena

Aww Teena, I'm sorry but thank you for seriously considering this very special pup. The right one will come along for you again.
I'm glad he found more great people to love him.

Hey all! Just wanted to throw another update out there about Buddy... His two different foster to adopt homes have ended up falling through and he is once again "on the market" for an awesome home. I stopped in today to drop off some supplies and to visit with him for a bit and he is such a love! Please spread the word about this awesome boy! He needs a very special home!
Hey sashadog...
Any word as to why the other two foster-to-adopts did not work? The representative from the rescue that had contacted earlier said she would contact me if it didn't work out but I haven't heard anything...maybe they are not willing to do the transport...however, I may have someone willing to pick him up for me if that is an option. Let me know if you know anything
Cheers,
Teena

Teena- If you end up adopting him maybe we could figure out a puppy train. If we can get him to Montana I could get him close to the border (Great Falls or even Closer). I don't have a passport so can't cross.
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Thanks fourminipups

Certainly! It wouldn't be the first time Tripawds members bulled together a rescue transport...

Hey Teena!
According to the shelter manager, the families just didn't realize the commitment he would be physically with his disabilities as well as the fact that he is a true blue, seemingly working line, BC. I went and visited him again and played with him for a bit and he's as herding dog as they come! Trying to "control" the other pups he's housed with, fetching like it's all that matters, and very movement sensitive. He's a total love and has a decent off switch for a pup and absolutely adorable but I could see people wanting to help him and thinking he's gorgeous but not understanding that before all that, he's a working dog.
I did ask the manager about you and any other inquiries about Buddy and she seemed a little out of it. When I asked her about possible transport she expressed some concern about how he would fare on a journey that long but that they'd be open to the idea. I wasn't super impressed by her and kind of got the impression that she might take some persistence to keep in touch with, didn't seem like a super proactive manager. However, she may have just been having a bad day She gave me her card and said to pass on her email address if you are still interested. (manager@animalhousehelp.org) Please let me know if I can do anything else on this end!
Just out of curiosity and to make sure we're all the same page, did you read his full bio on the website?
Thanks for checking into that for me "sashadog"...you rock
Yes I did read Buddy's bio...actually I just went back to read it again just in case there was any changes
I just wanted to know if it just had to do with his fecal incontinence or if there was some other reason why it didn't work out...it's good to learn that he has strong BC traits that is something that I have to factor in as well.
Like I mentioned earlier I did talk to my boss, Dr. Josee, about Buddy's fecal incontinence and she has had success in the past through Chiro, however, it's not 100% guaranteed. When I had emailed the president of the rescue organization, one of the questions I asked her was would they have access to any x-rays that may have been taken before his surgery...this would help Dr. Josee with a more definite prognosis and help me know what exactly I should expect, unfortunately I still have yet to here back from her. I did pass on the same question to the manager (which is the email you listed) when I responded to her email, so that she could maybe have the answers for me should the foster-to-adopt not work out for Buddy but I haven't heard anything from her either.
I will add that my one concern with the fecal incontinence is that if it is permanent there is a possibility of toxins building up and the potential for future medical concerns and possibly death. I just need to factor in everything before I make this commitment...it's only fair, for Buddy and my family.
I do understand their concerns with transporting, especially with his incontinence...whoever decides to help has to be comfortable releasing his bowels, which may just take some extra planning. The bottom line is, it's what's best for Buddy
I know you have mentioned before that they are short staffed, however, it's hard to find homes for all the dogs they have listed if they don't return emails or allow foreign numbers to phone their facility.
Anyway, thanks again. I'll keep you posted.

Awesome. I'm glad you read the whole thing as I went back and read my original post and realized that I didn't mention the incontinence and didn't want that to be a surprise. I'm so sorry I went too fast in that first post... I didn't want any miscommunication since I forgot to add it initially.
It is really tough to see them not keeping up with their end especially for their special needs dogs... I'll keep on them as well and see if I can't get them to stay on top of it. I have nothing to do for a little while between graduating and waiting for a baby to arrive so I might as well go visit everyday Nothing like lovin on the pups!
Please keep me updated! I'd love to help however I can!
Thanks again, "sashadog"
