Tripawd nation! We need your help spreading the word to find a home for our friend Pepper the Tripawd! We are currently fostering him here in Alaska through the August Fund. He is about 6 years old and lost his left hind leg to a bad injury back in March. Pepper grew up a sled dog, and doesn't know much about life beyond that, so will need someone kind and patient who can help him learn about the world and keep him active.

I just KNOW the right person is out there for this guy!! He isn't a big fan of loud and crazy (other than with other dogs) - traffic, for example, makes him nervous on walks. We have him doing 2-3 miles/day, and he gets to play with the crazy puppies in the dog yard. His shyness is melting away, and he is enjoying having ear scratches and back rubs. My favorite is when he is snug in his dog house, but curious as to what is going on, and just pokes his curious head and front paws out of the doorway to see if it is good enough to wake up for! He looks like a hermit crab.

Paws crossed for Pepper!!!! He is out for a trial run with a family with a 4 year old boy. We hope they are able to work with him on his shyness and keep him on the right track to being a healthy happy guy! Good luck Pepper! Be a good boy!

Well, some bummer news. Pepper's adoption fell through, so he is back here with us. The search for a forever home continues!! You can find his profile and updated photos here. Please share - he is a sweet and sensitive guy who needs someone with a lot of patience and compassion so that he can flourish!
Big bummer! We will continue sharing. I know his perfect parents are out there! Thanks so much for helping him to find them. You guys are wonderful.

Just got word that this boy is still waiting for a furever home. He is leaving Alaska and traveling back to Colorado with Calpurnia's pack in a few weeks, and will be ready for that perfect family once he gets there. Please spread the word!

I posted on the Odaroloc blog too but thought it might be a good idea to cross post just in case. I’m not sure if we’d be the absolute best home for Pepper since we live in urban-ish Denver on a street that sees a moderate amount of traffic and our backyard isn’t large but I thought it was still worth reaching out to see if we might be able to help in honor of our beloved gal Pee Wee who was a total dog racist and only liked huskies and one Samoyed.
