I see that sometimes new members post questions and they haven't searched the site for answers. (Not that that is a bad thing because its good to get feedback). In my opinion...folks new to the site do not search for existing topics because the ability to search existing topics is not clear. Especially for those of us that are not the most computer literate. We know we can google "amputation" and "Osteosarcoma",then we find the site and kinda fumble around.

Perhaps a clear topic search box

I AM SEARCHING FOR ________________________________ search button

The little search button is there but I didnt use it until I was on the site a few (maybe 3) weeks. I am sure that a majority of users know about blogs but this was my first experience with any online blog or social media. And no, I do not have a Facebook Account, Twitter, etc.

Just a suggestion from the peanut gallery

Thanks for the suggestion. It has been our experience, however, that no matter how big, red and blinking we make notices on this site, those seeking fast answers simply do. not. read. Aside from that, implementing the solution you suggest is beyond the administrative capabilities of the plugin that powers these forums.

We appreciate your feedback.

i"m actually having a difficult time searching.  i have put things into searches but it comes back with so many types of posts.  is there a way to do it so i may actually find what i am looking for and not have to post every time i have a question that i am sure other folks have already talked about.

thanks

Sorry for the troubles. Try narrowing your search by using the check boxes to search for all words or exact phrase. You might also try searching only topic titles to find to threads people have titled appropriately. Many members also use tags effectively so be sure to click the related button on posts you do find helpful, or search tags for single words. Another option is to only search specific forums by visiting a related forum, clicking search and checking the "this forum only" box.

When in doubt, ask and others may be able to direct you to other pertinent topics. Hope this helps! Thanks for asking.
