I'm having problems uploading photos to my Media Library. I tried a couple of days ago and I am having the same problem now.

My IP address was 92.234.214.210 and this was at about 10.00 GMT

I then tried again using an American IP 172.98.93.218 but had exactly the same problem.

The photos are not large in size (between 200-700 KB) and whether I try to upload individually or as a group, I get a variation of the same error message:

"Meg's day out (1 of 10).jpgPost-processing of the image failed. If this is a photo or a large image, please scale it down to 2500 pixels and upload it again." (the image size in this case was 226KB)

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Clare

So I've managed to upload them from my phone, using 4G rather than wifi. It's not liking my Wifi for some reason. In fact it often won't load the site at all when I'm on Wifi. No probs with 4G. I have cleared all cookies, history etc., and it's the same on my phone (when connected to Wifi), so frankly I'm baffled. Anyway, I have now uploaded the pics... Current IP address: 85.255.233.241

Thanks,

Clare

Interesting... This IP address had been blocked by the firewall at some point: 92.234.214.210

This can happen for various reasons, but was likely due to repeated upload attempts that were breaking some unidentified mod_security rule.

That IP has now been unblocked, and we have successfully tested uploads to your Media Library.

The one common factor among the security logs for these POST requests, is the filename. It includes spaces, and apostrophe, and parentheses. Some algorithm may have been falsely identifying the file as nefarious, or a forbidden script. We could test this theory*, or could try refraining from such file names and reporting back.

With the IP unblocked, and use of simple filenames (e.g.; nospaces_or-parens.file) hopefully the issue has been addressed. If not, please let us know.

*Actually...we just tested the file-name theory, and were able to replicate the issue. The same error was thrown when attempting to upload an image file named "meg's a (star).jpg". smiley16 Please avoid naming files to be uploaded with apostrophes, spaces, and parentheses.
