Do you use a mobile device to access Tripawds.com? If so, please tell us how Tripawds.com is currently working with your device.

Some members have reported that since our last site upgrade a couple of weeks ago, Tripawds.com is hard to access via iPads. If you've also experienced this issue, please help us figure out the problem by telling us:

  • The exact mobile device model you are using, and what version (i.e., iPad 1 or 2)
  • Your operating system
  • Exactly what happens when you try to access the Forums, blogs, etc.
  • Screen shots are greatly appreciated.

If you have a way to clear your cache, please do, it might help.

Thanks for your time in reporting any issues, we hope to have this issue handled soon.

FYI to all iPad and other mobile device users:

The forums will look different on your mobile device than it does on your computer. We are serving up a different theme upon identifying use of a mobile browser to make the forums easier to use on a small screen. When visiting the forums on a mobile device you may notice different colors or styles for certain elements and some items may appear in a different order.

Also...

Recent Forum upgrades implemented use of the WordPress TinyMCE editor, which we have been assured (and the vast majority of testing reports confirm) to work with mobile browsers. After receiving a number of reports of the forums "not working" on an iPad or iPhone, we have added a filter to keep the visual editor from loading on mobile devices. These forums used to work this way, forcing mobile users to use the plain text editor.

Without an iPad to test this fix, we are seeking feedback from mobile device users to confirm whether or not things are working better now.

Please provide as much detail as possible, device, OS, browser, issue, errors, etc. Screenshots appreciated.

Thank you!

The biggest problem I was having was that I couldn't post more than a couple of lines of text. I'm going to keep typing here and see how far I get. I have an iPad 2 running iOS 6.0.1. I did clear cache. I also can't log on from my iMac but that is a different problem. Once I get a couple lines in I couldn't type anymore. I could delete, but not type new letters. Sometimes happened after I hit return.
But now things seem to be working OK which is good since I can't log on from my regular computer.
One problem solved I guess- now I'll go log a separate issue!

I have become addicted to tapatalk for forums on my mobile devices.  Since I can't use it for this one, I rarely check in from a mobile device. I will log in from my kindle fire in a bit and see how it works.

I am on my Kindle fire. Everything appears to be responding normally. There is no indication I will be limited in the length of a response. Since getting the Fire I almost never access forums via my phone.

Thanks for all the feedback! Others on the Faceborg also report better iPad functionality after we did some recent work behind the scenes here.

Just testing TinyMCE editor again after turning off plain text filter. All appears well indeed.

Great, and just an FYI for any users who don't enjoy using the TinyMCE editor on a mobile device, you can change your default editor to plain text from your Forums Profile options. The Rich Text editor (TinyMCE) is not responsive, so it doesn't fit very well on small screens, and can be a bit slower on mobile devices. The Textarea editor will always work better but has less options for formatting, though HTML tags can be used to address that.

I just changed my default editor to plain text and now I can post again. I could post on the 5th, but not yesterday or earlier today. After changing I can type again- I can tell because when I have trouble posting typing is very slow. I'm really just testing again-

Of course you have to remember to change your editor back to TinyMCE when you get on your regular computer so you don't panic when all editing buttons are gone.....

Not that I did that oh-my

OK. Added filter back to load plaintext editor on mobile devices. Works good on iPhone, need feedback from iPad users.
It's safe to change default editor back to rich text for use on computers now!

What am I looking for? I'm typing on my iPad without changing editor to text. None of the editing tools appear- but they never have on my iPad. I am able to type at regular speed still, before typing was very slow, then I would not be able to type at all. Now I have to go check and see if I can log on from my computer. I logged on fine today from work. I'm just filling lines now, when I was getting stuck I could only type a line or two.
And now I am using my Zagg keyboard- seems to work fine this way too.
