On July 28, 2013 my beloved Bo lost his battle with cancer. We are still heartbroken and miss him everyday.
I turned to Tripawds chat for support a few days after his posting. I knew pawrents here would understand. While chatting with a number of members, one posted a picture of the cutest little terrier mix named Brimley. Brimley was hit buy a car and after a number of surgeries and therapy had to have his rear leg removed. Nerve damage made it difficult for him to walk.
Brimley had been in foster care for 7 months and needed a forever home. The member who posted the picture could not adopt him because she was out of state....but he was only a 40 minute drive from me.
I could not get this little guy out of my head! It felt crazy! I was grieving for my Bo! How could I even think of getting another dog?!
Well!! After some back and forth contact and a meeting at the foster families home we adopted Brimley!
This little guy is the complete opposite of any dog we have owned!
Normally we have larger breeds....Bo was a 90 + pound Black Lab mix. Brimley is 5 lbs soaking wet!
We adopted him on Saturday 08/31/2013 and he is settling in nicely. He really is amazing!
We still miss Bo terribly, always will..... Brimley, however, is a nice distraction.
Hi Jennifer, it's nice to hear from you and what fantastic news you have to share today! There is no better way to honor a dog that we loved dearly, than by opening our hearts to another in need of a home. What a pawesome thing to bring Brimley into your life!
So this is the same Brimley right?

Yay Brimley for getting your forever home. It was Erica who wanted to adopt him. I am glad you got a new baby though

OH MY GOODNESS!!! CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!!
Congrats on your new addition!! How lucky he is , and you too!!! And I am sure he will brings lots of joy and laughs and steal another piece of your heart. Of course he will never replace Bo, just like Mr. Wilson doesn't replace my Franklin, but we all love dogs so much that it seems a shame not to pass that love onto another 3 or 4 legger...
I look forward to following this little gaffer's life story!!
Christine..... with Franklin in her heart♥
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
Looks like you will have your hands full with that little ball of energy. I'm sure Bo is looking down upon you all with a smile upon his face.
Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury. Her amp was on 10/1/12. She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera. We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.
You can read their stories at http://adelaide.tripawds.com and http://brendol.tripawds.com

Erica and Jill
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. OMD what a cutie!!! Congratulations to all. We adopted our current quad GSD 3 months after losing my 14-year-old heart-dog GSD. Smokey is a different color, build, and personality, and we love him like crazy for being his own goofy self. 6 months after Smokey came we got Roxie, our Tripawd Princess; our first non-GSD in over 30 years! And she is in a class by herself and doesn't let us forget it. Sometimes things just work out the way they should.
I'm a little worried, though, that Brimley doesn't have enough toys to play with. Did he come with all those or are they inherited? Smokey came into a bunch of pre-chewed-squeaker-dead toys but his favorites were the ones we brought to the kennel when we went to bring him home. Replaced about 12 times by now but he doesn't care.
Enjoy enjoy that little ball of love!

YAY! YAY! YAY!!!!!! How wonderful that you opened your home and your heart. I am a firm believer that our dogs want us to be happy. They do not feel 'replaced' - instead they feel pride that their human has such a generous heart to give love and happiness to another. They feel proud that the bond they shared with us was so special that we long to share that again. That is the essence of dog - to live in the moment and to love in every moment.
And, a lesson to be learned from this: Even just sharing a picture or story of a homeless dog in need (in person, in chat rooms, on other social media) CAN make a difference. You may not know someone looking for a dog, but if you share, and then that person shares, and so on, until someone sees that precious animal and says "That's the one!!!" IT DOES HAPPEN - THIS STORY IS PROOF! The mantra for volunteers in 2013 is " If you can.. adopt. If you can’t adopt...foster. If you can’t foster....donate. If you can’t donate...... transport. If you can’t transport....network and crosspost! We cant save them all..but for those who we do save, it changes their lives forever."
Congratulations, Jennifer and family!!!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Brimley is too adorable for words. I wonder if they could bottle that energy and sell it?!
Congrads on your new addition. He will provide you with so many smiles and laughs and Bo will be the best guardian angel ever.
Luanne and Spirit Shooter
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
I'm soooooo happy for you AND for Brimley! Clearly your beautiful, brave Bo had a paw in this selection! I think he made sure he picked someone completely opposite of him.
Brimley is exactly who you need! I ave a feeling there won't be a dull moment around yor house! That is just aout the most adoravle up on tne pla et!! Cute! Cute! Cute!,,
Yeah, as Liz said, for goodness sakes, get that dog some more stuffed toys!
Enjoy the joy nd happiness Brimley is bringing to you...you deserve it, so does Brimley, and so does Bo!
(((((((((hugs))))))))
Saly and Hapy Hannah

I have to tell you that Bo has got to be smiling and shaking his head at that little guy....
I had to watch the video again to have a great big smile to start my day...
I just love the way he goes "Rambo" on those stuffed toys.. and carrying the big one.. reminds me of Dino with the hugh dinosaur bone in the Flinstones.. lol
