Now we don't need to do next X-ray for two months😀.

Woooowwwww this is way overdue. I am so bad at posting updates. Two months after my last update and Sessy still has clear X-rays!!!! This means that Sessy is still cancer free after almost 10 months. We are still going to UCDavis where Sessy is doing physical therapy every Friday.
One bump in the road happened about a month ago. Sessy started limping on her remaining back leg. At first UCDavis thought it was a sprain and put her on antiimflamitory meds. Things seemed better until one day I barely touched the back of her knee and she screamed bloody murder. Of course 10 minutes later we were in the car and on the way to UCDavis ER. Sessy ended up in the hospital for three days.....and I grew some new gray hairs. Good news from this experience is that in trying to figure out what was going on they xrayed, ultra sounded etc everything.........NO CANCER anywhere so far. Bad news was that Sessy had a blood clot in her leg at the back of her knee.
i had no idea how dangerous something like this could be. At first I was just happy that it wasn't cancer.....not realizing that a blood clot could have killed her and still may. Happily her body took care of the clot this time and started to absorb the clot. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for a clot to completely heal. Sessy is feeling fine but there was muscle damage to the leg. Because of this we only take five minute walks several times a day until she builds the muscle back. We are also continuing physical therapy with some modifications. Sessy is feeling good and acts her normal self. Sessy is also on blood thinner right now to hopefully prevent another clot.
In UCDavis opinion this probably had nothing to do with the earlier cancer or amputation. They feel it just may be something to do with her being a greyhound. Unfortunately since greyhounds are so different then other dogs, while they think this may be the contributing factor......also because she is a greyhound and they are not fully understood.....they can not figure out what caused the clot. Because they cannot find the cause, this also means they can't really treat it either.
Her internal medicine doctor was not very positive...... but her physical therapist doctor is really positive that we can prevent this from happening again. I choose to believe in her and her positive outlook. Besides she knows tripawds.....she has a tripawd dog, cat, and sheep. As Sally says there isn't an expiration date on her verrrrryyyyy cute butt.
For now.....Sessy is feeling good......so I am feeling good........and for a greyhound that turns 12 next month she looks a GREAT!!!!! I love my girl!!!!!!!

So happy for you Gayle, and Sessy too! You're doing great just living in the now, and dealing with the bumps in the road that may come. Cheers!
