WOW! What can one say? They did a terrific job on the story! I feel so proud of being a part of a tremendous community that has the biggest hearts. Love is always in air here!

Okay, I'm done, too! DAMN. 1500 words! I'm glad I remembered to use "3" instead of "three"! I hope I didn't take out the part that asked for money!
We are sure to win – I sent Comet's pink hoodie pic!
If anyone needs me, I'll be in the video editing suite!
Dear Ellen,
I am writing to ask for your help/support with a terrific 3-legged dog support website, Tripawds.com. The owners devote so much time and energy to it. They do it for the love of the dogs and people who are facing amputation. They don't make any money to speak of and live on a sparse existence. The site is the most compassionate place I've ever seen. I have a 3-legged dog that was born with a front leg birth defect that I adopted as a puppy. I have had her now for almost 12 years. I didn't have anyone to turn to during the first 10 years. No one understood what is was like to have a 3-legged dog. Plus, she was kept by a 'hoarder' with 22 other dogs before I adopted her, so she has emotional problems along with her deformed front leg. Again, no one understood. I love her so much and when her soul mate dog died suddenly with a cancerous tumor on the heart last year, I was in a very dark place and had no place to turn. She and I were extremely depressed. I accidentally found their website during that time. I finally had a place that I could turn to! The owners, Jim and Rene are incredible people. They welcome everyone new into the site as if they were family. The site is full of love. Please consider helping them. I worry their finances will not enable them to continue. Our members try to give money when we can, but I know it is not enough for them to live on.
Your help would mean so much.
Thank you

Awww Comet, you really got us all teary-eyed, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
P.S. No matter what, we will always find a way to make sure that Tripawds goes on, please don't worry, you'll get wrinkles. {{{hugs}}}}

I'd say! Are those your stairs leading to your GMC abode?

Not a GMC...for shame. It's a Dodge, and it's Wyatt's abode.
Nope, not the van down by the river. More like the hillbilly shack in the woods.

Okay, I sent the picture of Magic and Casper the little conehead with the following message....this has been an odd day...I took Pat (Spirit Ruthie's mom) to the hospital this morning for a test (I have found such a good friend through such an awful experience) and it was the first time I had been back to that hospital since my husband's death two years ago and today is also a month since I lost Magic...I keep leaking today....so, here is what I sent Ellen...I hope it helps in some little way.
Dear Ms. DeGeneres
I am writing in support of Tripawds.com an awesome community dedicated to those of us dealing with dogs with three legs, due to cancer or accident or a birth defect. In March 2010 my eleven year old wolfdog Magic was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. His leg was amputated and at that time (3/11/10) his lungs were clear. Unfortunately, his cancer was one of the most aggressive our vet had ever seen. It went to his lungs, then his kidneys and although he and I fought hard, he lost his battle on June 21, 2010, earned his wings, regained his fourth leg and now runs happily with the others (and his 17 year old kitty sibling that I lost shortly before losing Magic). If it hadn’t been for the Tripawds community, I would have lost my mind. My husband died two years ago and I had to fight this battle alone...or so I thought. The love, caring, advice and support I received at Tripawds carried me through one of the worst journeys of my life. Jim and Rene run this website on a shoestring, and it is truly a labor of love. Love for their Jerry, love for us and love for all of our furkids. Any help you could possibly give them would be so so appreciated. One never knows when they might become part of our family at Tripawds. All are welcomed with love although we hate that they must join us. Cancer sucks.
Diane O’Neal
Love you Diane, thank you!
Hope everything is OK with Pat. You are a great friend. Please let her know we are thinking of her, and you too on this anniversary. I can't believe it's been a month already. We'll light a candle tonight for your boy.

I just sent in my entry. I thought it said 1500 'words'! Only after I tried to submit my novel did I see the word 'characters'!
I think Comet's pink hoodie makes tripawds.com a shoe-in!
Dx Osteosarcoma 3/31/10. Amputation 7/21/10. Honey put up a valiant fight and lost her battle 9/22/10. Missing her and treasuring 9 years with our Honeygurl.
