It's been a while since I've posted in the forums, but wanted to let everyone know that Chuy is still around and kicking it up here in Arizona.
He is suffering from severe arthritis in all 3 legs, all the joints and also has Degenerative Myleopathy. His vet said he has mild hip displaysia (sp?) in the one hip joint he has left also. Being a front leg amputee, life has been difficult for him this past 8 months. He tends to sleep a lot more and doesn't play like he used to. Back in January he couldn't even stand up on his own, but now he can!
We are putting him through Adequan shots, started with weekly for 4 weeks, then every other week up until today. The vet told us today that we can start monthly! Chuy is also on Duralactin chews (glucosamin/chondrotin/msm) and rimadyl (as needed). He eats well, but is gaining weight, which isn't good. 🙁
We are hoping that our Chuy will be with us for at least another year or so. With DM, you never know how long you have.
Just shouting out here. Stay hopping my friends.

YAAAY CHUY!!
When we found out he had DM our hearts sank. But you are doing incredible work with him Eleanor, this news is the BEST EVER!
Chuy is such a rock star. For those of you who aren't familiar with his story, please see:
