So, Big Ben has just struck midnight, and it is now officially Meg’s ONE YEAR AMPUVERSARY!!!! Of course, the celebrations are already well underway in Australia and New Zealand, and our friends in Vancouver, California and beyond will be partying well into tomorrow, but here in Greenwich Mean Time the long anticipated day has at last arrived.
I’m not actually sure of the arrangements, Meg took over the planning (and the budget) months ago, when, after lengthy interrogation, she managed to get out of me that I was laying on a party at Buckingham Palace, with a speech in her honour from Her Majesty the Queen, corgis serving steak and champagne and a 21-gun salute. Apparently this was too low key. ‘It’s my Ampuversary!!!,’ she said. ‘ And it’s like you just can’t be bothered!’.
I’m sure Meg will be updating her blog in due course, so brace yourselves for that, but in the meantime, here’s a little film she and Elsie made to celebrate a whole year (I can’t quite believe it’s a year) of loving life on three.

Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
Woooooohay-aaaaaay Meg 🎊🎉🎈🚀

Your Mom has set up a brilliant pawty for you too 😆
A Queen's speech 👑 and ( I particularly love this part) corgis serving steak and champagne 🍖🍾and a salute 💣📡 for good measure 💣💥🌈
But I have to say, you gotta involve Elsie in your games too ⛹🏼🤾🏽♀️🏋🏼♀️ all she needs is a little encouragement 👯♂️and hopefully she will postpone thinking about meal times and begging for food, right ?
Right, Elsie ????????
Sending you the biggest tummy rub ever recorded 👌🏽😎🎯
and 🎷🥁🥁🥁🎺 HOPPY birthday 🎂🎉🥂🎊 to THE one and only MEGA⭐️💕💕💕💕

No dog does the "water shake-off" with more precision and focus than Meg does! She shook every drop of water off right down to the last drop on the tip of her tail!!
And then we see Elsie Pie showing us what a running machine looks like!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
You have put together SPECTACULAR snippets of Meg's first year as a tipawd....and Elsie Pie's first year watching Meg be a tripawd!!! 🙂 You really, really are very gifted in your videos and pictures and your storytelling. True genius!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Brilliant! Meg, you have the best video production team. Do you do the storyboard or is it Elsie? I love each and every moment but must give extra kudos for the Charlie Chaplin style moments.
Have a very happy anniversary. I'm so glad you are a wonderful member of this forum showing us how much fun a tripawd can have with your games, rehab exercises, swimming, stick playing and deer chasing.
Say hi to the Queen will you?
Love to all,
Kerren and Tripawd Kitty Mona
Wow, Meg!!! You are a STAR! Elsie Pie gets the Best Supporting Actress award. And you, Clare, should be honored as an Oscar winning director! Then the Queen could name you Dame Tripawd!
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
It's almost the 9th here in CA and so HAPPY 1 YEAR AMPUVERSARY MEGASTAR!
I can't even think of what the appropriate level of celebration would be for such a momentous occasion. If the Queen is too low key...
The movie was fabulous as you would expect. It's amazing how Elsie was able to contain her enthusiasm so as not to take away from the Megastar!
Karen
Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.
1999 to 2010
That was just brilliant! Captured both Megastar's and Elsie Pie's essence and personalities to a "T". Ummm Meg you might want to rethink the Queen for your celebration. You know she's got all those corgis. When you go flying around them faster on your three than they are on four well she might not be amused you know what I'm sayin'? Hoppy Hoppy one year sweet Megastar! Yours and Elsie Pie's cups surely runneth over with LOVE!
ABSOLUTELY PERFECTION!!! I LOVE it!!! WOW ... what a year... what a remarkable year and what adventures. I particularly loved the part out of the pond shaking her bloomers dry. Too funny. And the tug-of-war with Elsie Pie.
I can't get over the cuteness and joy and happiness!!! So yes... we're celebrating here in Southern CA with champagne, extra cookies and all sorts of fanfare!!! Happy One YEAR!! here's to many, many more... we love you so much!
Alison with Spirit Shelby in her heart (and little jasper too)
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Yay for Meg!! Happy 1 year Ampuversary!
Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X. Started limping on 12/24/16. Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17. Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17. 2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017. 4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17. Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight. Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.
HOOORRAAAAY! We're keeping this pawty going out on the West Coast because YOU ROCK MEG! And you too Clare, we can't believe it's been a year. Congrats to you both and THANK YOU for being our heroes here. What an incredible road you've traveled!
