As you all remember, we lost Princess (aka Magnum) last week after a courageous, too-short battle with cancer.
Just a day after Magnum's sudden passing, her Momma Karen sent a generous gift to Tripawds, to honor her beautiful girl's memory."Your support makes a big difference. Part of it is being able to share a love for our dogs that many of our friends/family may not understand, especialy the extent we will go to in our efforts to prolong a quality life for them.
And the other part is being able to share experiences about the very scary issues around amputation and cancer. We all approach it differently so being able to bounce ideas off each other and hear others experiences is very helpful.
. . . . for me there was no hesitation in having her leg removed. I knew she would be fine on 3 legs, I knew it would take away her pain and I knew that it would give her more time on this earth.
Of all the decisions I've made over the last 8 months it was the easiest one. The aesthetics were simply never an issue for me and I saw nothing but beauty in the space left behind."
At a time when the grief is so raw, we were speechless that she would even think of others at a time like this.
Karen, we are extremely honored by your support, and send all of our love and condolences so you may find the strength you need to heal, and smile when you think of Magnum. May her spirit shine brightly on Tripawds for eternity.
Magnum (aka Princess)
30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012
Our beautiful little girl – so loyal, courageous, spirited and loving.
Her love of life was with her to the end.
Passed peacefully in her loving mum's arms.
Forever loved.

Earlier this week, we received a thoughtful gift from Amber, in Phoenix Arizona.
Amber's gift is in memory of Sweet Pea (family to Sergio and Donna Mendoza) who earned her angel wings on 9/2/2012.
What a face. We know Sweet Pea will be missed by many.
We send our gratitude to Amber for thinking of us at this difficult time, and all our condolences to Sweet Pea's family.
May this pretty girl run free on all fours forever.

We just want to give a special shout out to Susanne, who recently sent a generous gift to the Tripawds community.
Her three-legged hero Buddy went through a terrible ordeal earlier this year, and Susanne wrote to tell us how much comfort she found in everyone's stories here. She's registered as "budsmom" in the Forums and this is what she said:
"I adopted my cocker spaniel, Buddy, from a shelter in Oct. 2011. He came with a variety of "issues", but was loved nonetheless. On one of those, first beautiful and long-awaited spring weekends in May, Bud was frolicking in the backyard with sister Lucy. My neighbor was also in her next door yard, watering flowerings. The next thing I know, siste Lucy was frantically barking. I looked outside to see my little boy covered in blood. He was not barking or crying, just patiently sitting on the back stoop.
I had no idea that the back gate had not been properly latched and had blown open in the wind. I also had no idea when we got to the emergency vet that Bud had been hit by a car. A week later, it was discovered that the ligaments on his back leg had been sheared off (apparently, "shearing" is not evident on an x-ray). The surgeon who was preparing to "close up" his injuries to his abdomen and leg called to inform me that he needed to amputate. Second sesimic shock of the week.
Your site was so helpful and inspiring. I had no idea what to expect or whether my dog would ever be the same. I have a number of pics of Bud, right after surgery, which was a difficult time, but reading all the posts better prepared me for what to expect and what behavioral changes I could expect from pain and from medications."
Three paws up to Buddy and his Mom Susanne for being so kind to this community! Thank you so very much.

Poor Buddy! I know first-hand the stomach-dropping shock when you find out your dog battled a car and lost.
We had a dog climb our dogsitter's fence years ago, and she tried to come back home. Missing many hours, she was finally found on our doorstep (and we were way out of town), bleeding. Her internal injuries were also not apparent, but boy the vet sure found them! That was the first family vacation we cut short because of a dog, but not the last! The last one was when we found our Dakota Dawg abandoned and immediately increased our family size and hustled home fast to get him medical care. Who knew 10 years later we'd also be here, needing advice and support for amputation? A wild ride, isn't it?
Shari
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Many thanks to Deborah for her Tripawds Community Support Contribution...

A very big Christmas Shout Out goes to Tazzie and his pack, Susan and Paddie, whose generous gift to the Tripawds community was received today under our tree. Thank you so very much!
Tazzie, it's hard to believe that you have been an angel dog for three years now. You fought so bravely from July to December 2009, it broke our hearts when you earned your wings. We wish you could have been part of this community longer but rest assured my friend, your spirit lives on.Susan, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for thinking of us at Christmastime. We are deeply touched, and can't thank you enough.
For those of you unfamiliar with Tazzie's journey, you can read more in Susan's posts, here. Also, Tazzie started this wonderful "Spirit Tripawds Photo Tribute" Topic, which you may want to add to, especially during this time of year.
Susan, please give Paddie a big smooch from us. Merry, Merry Howlidays! Thank you so very much. xoxo

My tardiness is inexcusable but I'm hoping everyone can forgive me for the delay in posting this beautiful note and generous gift that Bruiser Bruno's people sent to us a couple of weeks ago.
Their note left us speechless and touched us deeply.
Tripawds was my go to, my life line; it provided me a wealth of information, and an online community which cheered my victories and eased my fears. It has given me a way to honor Bruno and is therapeutic in this time of grieving. I am thankful for Jerry who first inspired it all, and for Wyatt Ray who continues the quest and carries forward with his legacy. My dogs are my everything.. I am lucky to have met people as kind as you all. Keep up the awesome work.

Thank you so much guys, for allowing us to keep this community going. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May Bruno's legacy continue giving hope and inspawration to many for years to come.

Let's all give a great big SHOUT OUT to Chantal, mom to Tripawd Kitty Fang, who helped us celebrate the first annual Tripawds Awareness Day with a generous gift to the Tripawds Nation!
Chantal and Fang laid out the scratchin' post for future Tripawd Kitties by being our first cat blogger. We can't thank them enough for that, and all they do for three legged critters everywhere. Thanks so much!

We'd like to give a great big THANK YOU to long-time Tripawds member Diane O'Neal (aka "krispikritter") for her generous support of the Tripawds community!
Diane joined us back in 2010 when her beloved dog Magic was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Magic's journey ended far too soon but Diane remains in touch with us to this day, always making us smile with her witty humor and love of all creatures great and small. On behalf of Tripawds everywhere, thank you so much Diane!
