How could we have ever known that this little shelter puppy we brought home in January, 1999, would grow up to be our wise Zen master, our Canine Fun Officer and be a source of hope and inspawration to so many people around the world?
It's hard to imagine what our lives would be like if we had never laid eyes on the one puppy in the shelter who had destroyed every toy in his kennel, who barked, jumped right into our laps, licked our faces and said "get me out of here!"
The world hasn't been the same since.
Thank you, Jerry.
Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow is but a vision.
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.

Awww. Jerry was so adorable. Isn't it a strange feeling to look back at the moment when you saw him not knowing what the future held? He brought many, many, many people together!
Jerry has a kinship with Comet, I didn't know – She, too was rescued from the shelter in January 1999. Wouldn't it be weird if it was the same day??? I'll have to look it up since I don't remember.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I am so happy that your Mom and Dad "bailed" you out of that shelter. Dad has told me about Chrissy, his first, and also a shelter dog. You definately showed the way for your Pawrents and we ALL owe you so very much for being YOU - as wonderful as that IS! You will be in all our hearts forever.
Spirit Cherry
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
Will commemorate this day by eating extra bacon. Thank you Jerry for bringing such comfort and uniting people. He truly is a gift
The quest for world domination continues on three legs. Comply minions!

So Jerry had more in common with Wyatt Ray than we knew! Amazing how they change our lives and the lives of so many they meet - and even those they don't meet in Jerry's case.
And that, my friends, brings tears to my eyes....of course! Jerry, Jerry....what an inspawration you are to so many people and dawgs!
What a dawg! Hope you're whooping it up there in doggie heaven!
Fondly,
Tracy & Maggie
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Good amazing Jerry. Thank you so much for all that you taught your people and the people here on this site. We never had a chance to know you in this lifetime, but your legacy will live on in our hearts.
Way to go amazing boy! We will celebrate your day with extra treats tonight

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Happy birthday Jerry....you are a true angel and inspiration to all of us. You really did have big plans and purpose for our world. I will be forever grateful to you - you carried us through the best and the worst of times. Always uplifting our spirits and letting us see that there is life after cancer.
We love you Jerry!
Kami, Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Jerry...you brought so much to so many...and it goes on. You chose the right pawrents. Be blessed on your birthday like your life blessed all of us.

Happy Birthday Jerry! Sadie got extra treats today before I even read this post. I thought it was because I was bribing her to go outside (and please don't "go" in the house), but now I know the real reason! Thank you Jerry, for picking the perfect pawrents and bringing us all together.
Lots of birthday love,
Sadie and Lisa
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

My heart is with you today on Jerry's birthday. What a blessing he was and continues to be. Emily was a rescue dog, too. Not from a shelter but abandoned out in the country. Like you, I think about how much we would have missed if we would have left her there. Yes, we would have been spared the pain of losing them but oh, the pleasure we would have missed out on, too! We would celebrate in Jerry's honor today.
Debra & Angel Emily

Belated Happy Birthday to our founding Tripawd Angel. Without your wisdom we would not have this wonderful community to call home. Your inspiration lives on each day. I wish I could have met you.
