Today we forgot about Rumbles health worries and focused on celebrating his 11th birthday (a little late) and his 15 month ampuversary (a little early). But both DO happen in August, so as far as I'm concerned, we're still 'on time'!
He did not like wearing his birthday hat. I took many shots of him in it and this is the best one...not his happiest face ever.
But the happy face returned when he was served his homemade meat pie. I've never made one of these before, and I totally winged it...but he seemed to like it! So did the monkeybutt Sugar Cookie and monkeycats Lily Pearl and Delicious Delilah.
Happy Birthday and Happy Ampuversary Rumbles!
In my family we celebrate Birthday months, so yes, I think you are right on time.
Good job on " being more dog". It is sometimes hard to focus on the good times when there are health issues, but you don't want to miss them.

Meat pie?! That's the most pawesomest way to celebrate a birthday!!
I hope he has many many many more ampuversaries ahead of him and many more jelly bean dances in him!
Big bday hugs and kisses to that handsome boy!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Happy August Specialness, Rumbles! You are such a sweet guy and so dignified. No wonder the hat just didn't blow your skirt up. I'm sure the meat pie did, though! So happy you got such a special celebration. I can't wait to see what next year's celebrations bring!
Shari
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Happy Birthday Rumbles. Sorry they made you wear that silly hat but I'm sure the meat pie was worth it!!!
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Awwww, Sweet Rumbles, you look so handsome! Happy Birthday, Happy Ampuversary, Happy Everyday! Hope you are feeling better!
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Happy birthday, sweet boy! The hat is not dignified enough for a guy like you, so no wonder you weren't happy. But the pie looks delish! And you look much happier in that picture!
Happy 15 months, too. You are quite an inspiration!

Eleven? Wow! Hoppy Birthdayversary Rumbles! You look so distinguished and GREAT.
I love the look on your face, it's like "Come on, really? A polka dot pawty hat?" Looks like the meat pie made up for the goofy hat though, you're one lucky pup!
Woo hooo! The Tripawds Nation says "THREE PAWS UP TO YOU!!!!"
