Today is Bailey's 1 Month Ampuversary as a tri-paw.  She had her first chemo on 2/27 and went yesterday 3/7 for her CBC work.  Scheduled for second round of chemo on 3/20/14.  Praying that her blood work all comes back good and she can continue with the chemo.  Every day is a gift and we cherish the moments!

Bailey has regained her strength and loves to play.  She loves to chase a lazer light which my husband got out by accident looking for something and she immediately jumped into action and he turned it on.... (yes I'm going "please don't do that, she's going to get hurt."  But my husband decided to listen then her big sister that's 9 decided she wanted to play head butt with her and Bailey held her own until Bella cheap shot her with a nose to the incision site that threw her off balance and down she went... Mama said play time over take a break!  :)

FOOD is still a challenge.... I think she is just spoiled on hamburger...  After the vet last night we stopped at McDonalds to get her a cheeseburger... she would not eat that...  so my husband decided he would cook a hamburger for himself (since we have a stock pile right now) well Bailey was drooling for that... so tried to be sneaky and put a few bites in her kibble... she found it and pushed the kibble out...  SOOOOO conclusion spoiled?  Its 10:30 here and she has yet to eat breakfast... should I wait her out or cook her a hamburger...  anything to make them happy.

HOPE ALL MY TRIPAWD FAMILY IS WELL TODAY.  In St. Louis it's going to be 60, can you believe it 60! Woo hooo.

No how far can she walk...  I always have a million questions.

HUGS and PRAYERS to all the fighters out there.  We're going to win this battle.

Love,

Tracy and Bailey

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Love love love this great news! Congratulations, she is really kickin' butt and so are you clap Every ampuversary is a reason to celebrate and it gives so much hope to those who really need it, thank you for sharing.

As for the kibble, usually but not always it's a sign that the food just isn't as good as it used to be and something new, another brand, might be in order. Dig through our Nutrition blog for ideas.

Way to go Bailey!  Hoppy 1 month ampuversary!  We look forward to celebrating many more.  Bailey knows a home cooked burger is way better than McD's! :)

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

BAILEY!,,,,,, ONE MONTH AMPUVERSARY already?? Time flies when you're having fun, huh girl!

Heck, even IF the blood count comes back whacky..whicmhappens a lot so dn't be alarmed....it also means the chemo is working! Dn't now the science behind that...but that's supposed to be okay if it comes back screwy! And it doesn't mean you stop chemo at all...you just delay it til the blood work gets straight.

Hapoy Hannah wanted me to say something to Bailey from her..."Hold out for the hamburger Bailey!! Don't touch that stinkin' gibble!! You need to up your game a little, okay?? Ditchmthe hamburger...yeah, that'll really scare 'em..and hold out for STEAK!!"

Okay, I am the Queen of Spoil over here...I kinda' agree with Hapy Hannah...give Bailey anything she'll eat...withing reason...and that includes ice cream and cake to CELEBRATE!

HAPY AMPUVERSARY SWEET BAILEY...AND CHEERIN FOR THOUSANDS MORE!!!

LOVE!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

For some reason today I am extra emotional.  Everyone on here I feel for when something just isn't right or the way we want them to be, it's really hard and I share the heart ache with you.  Sally and Happy Happy Hannah... you are my inspiration and I look forward to you cheering us on.  Nervous and scared when she doesn't want to eat and there's tears in her eyes...  but I try to hide my fear and do the closet cry.

Time does fly by and I cherish every moment, I just have to remember I have a 9 year old Dane that is just as beautiful and I'm sure the next weigh in at the vet isn't going to be pretty... trust me she has to have a tad of what Bailey gets... or at least a taste... or we get the sad face and the head turning like WHY!

HUGS to all.  HERE's too many more months for all of us!

LOVE and PRAYERS,

Tracy and Bailey

Tracy,

We all have days when it's harder, for whatever reason. That's okay.

You love your girl so much. When you're feeling sad, try to remember that she's happy and enjoying life. That's what it's all about! And I think it's okay to spoil her a bit (or a lot :-) ). And your other dog, too. You and they should enjoy every minute!

Hugs,
Carol

Thanks Carol!  Don't know why I am sitting here crying reading blogs today.  I just wish there was a cure (I'm sure like everyone else on here.)  This C surely stinks.  It's just not fair.

Tracy,

You cry because you're a kind, caring, loving person. You cry because you love Bailey. You cry for the known (that darn Cancer), and the unknown (when and how). I do, too. I'm sure everyone here does. We love our babies so much, and hope that our babies and everyone else's beat this awful disease.

When you're done crying, wipe away your tears and go hug your babies. And give them a hug from me, too!

Sending you a big hug!

Carol

Happy, Hoppy One month ampuversary Bailey.

It sounds like she is adapting beautifully to her new "lifestyle".

With respect to food.....it will come......and I agree with Sally that a little spoiling never hurts :)

And feeling emotional.....that is a completely understandable thing.....this is a tough time for us pawrents....and we are tired and worried and stressed and really really hopeful that it will be alright.

Many hugs

Today is a grand day for Bailey!  This is great news!  I remember some of your first posts and how scary they were.  She's come a long long way!  Let's celebrate Bailey today!  There's so much pain here these days....

You got my PM?  It may be time to switch her food...again.  What was her first kibble, the one she ate/liked before cancer?  Why not go back to that?

How far can she walk?  Well, some here max it out at 10min.  Some max it out by distance (more realistic than time).  Some just follow their pup.  When she starts to sit down, stop, or rest during walks, that usually means it's long enough!  Unless it's Jackson we're talking about and he's sniffing the air, wondering where spring is?!  Or listening to the birds.  Or just making sure I STOP and enjoy the time with him!  Bailey is regaining her strength and may impress you with how far she wants/can go.  Every dog is different.

HUGS!  Congrats!

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!
