We've had her for about a week and a half now… I haven't seen Wolfie this happy (and distracted) for quite a while now… so it is a good thing. It's bad enough that our hearts were broken over loosing Jake, but to see Wolfie so sad afterwards… that really hurt. It's been 7.5 weeks since he's gone… It doesn't seem like that long ago that he was here with us… I keep seeing him everywhere from the corner of my eye… God, I miss him so much!!!! Sad

So, Wolfie is mad about her! She seems to like him too… even if he's constantly sniffing, licking, mouthing and pushing her around… She always runs back to him for more. Guess he's her giant plaything, and she's his. Even my old kittie Ping-Pong (who is around 12 or13 yrs old) seems to like her. They eat from the same bowl together, and whenever I come into the bedroom where Ping-Pong hangs out… the kittie is lying next to him. I really think that the kittie would have loved Jake, since he was so much calmer than Wolfie… I hope he is watching all this from heaven… Big Blink

Here's a video I took of Wolfie and the kitten (OK, we will finally give her a name by tonite or tomorrow the latest!)  this morning. This is after they've been playing for about half an hour… so I think she was finally getting tired of him… Smiley

Angel Jake's Mom

Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!

What a joy that kittie is!  In the midst of all the sadness of the past few weeks, she brings a ray of sunshine.  It's nice to see Wolfie happy too.  Thanks for sharing the video.

Awwwww... Wolfie is going to have to learn to share her with the rest of the family. I don't know much about cats, but I was even more impressed with the two cats eating out of the same bowl after a couple stories I've heard about old cats' reactions to new kittens in the house. Your whole pack is pawesome!

(Personally, I enjoyed the Rise Against playing in the background as well).

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.

He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

OH that's a hoot!   Wolfie is strangely protective acting, like a mama dog with a puppy!  It almost looks like he is determined to keep the little one safe!

We know you miss Jake and rightfully so - 7.5 weeks is still not so long ago.

I think that kitty is going to have one overprotective big brother/bodyguard!  I bet they become the best of friends and you will probably find them curled up together.  In winter my cat Loca curls up with Koda quite a bit and since the amputation on his front leg the cat fits perfectly under Koda's other leg and she can lay against his body beside him.  Keep posting the cute videos!!!

What a great video, thank you for sharing that with us.  Wolfie looks extremely happy with his new kitty.  Like Chuy and our kitty Emily, one day Wolfie will be getting his face washed by her.  It's so much fun to see them getting along so well.  Keep those videos coming!

Chuy, showing everyone that Tripawds do everything 3 times better than regular dogs!

Thanks for all the cool comments...

Well, kittie finally has her very own name... Xena (warrior princess)... I forgot how much work a kitten can be... she is so full of energy and has to be watched constantly... Whenever we loose site of her, we just ask Wolfie where she is and he leads us right to her! Laughing

OK... one last time (I swear!)... Her name is back to Nala... Jacques (hubby) never got into any of the other names we chose... so I finally gave in... Nala it is... I never had such difficulty in choosing a name for any of my critters before... Way Confused

OMG - that is the cutest thing I think I have ever seen!!! A big GSD and then this little kitten...how incredibly sweet. I'm so glad that Wolfie is happier (he looks great!!!). You have to promise to post more videos - they are so priceless and bring a smile to the face and laughter to the heart. Thank you!!!

Buddy (my other Golden) is better too, but there are still times where I look at him and he just looks sad and I know he is thinking about Zeus. It's 4 months for me coming up and I'm still sad and there are times I swear I see Zeus out of the corner of my eye...I'm pretty certain that is his way of telling me that he is still around. I have accepted that there will always be a hole in my heart and that I'll never really get over losing him and since that acceptance, my heart isn't as heavy - I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone...but it's like with that acceptance, I can feel him more around me and that makes my heart less heavy. Maybe I'm just crazy!!! Confused

Happy New Year Marguerite

Much love

So, the name Nala (or Nahla) is the name of the lioness in the movie Lion King.

Heather... I totally understand what you mean... You're NOT crazy... cause if you are... then we ALL are too!! Crazy about our animals...

Marguerite, I absolutely loved the film of Nala and Wolfie. It was so cute how Wolfie was determined to nudge her on the chair and she was just as determined to get up on the table and then back down again and then on the floor. They were probably doing that for the whole 30 mins, it was so funny and entertaining to watch http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/PaBabyBlue/KittyLaughing.gif

Wolfie does look happy and content that he has someone in his life http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/PaBabyBlue/WinkSmiley.gif
You are right, Jake is definitely watching from heaven at the precious gift (his new sister) Wolfie is playing so gently with and mommy is filming.
