Never thought I would be a part of the tripawd community. But here I am… In unchartered territory. My sweet girl was found lying in a ditch on one of the frigid days in Jan, hit by a car most likely dumped. I was fostering to adopt though she’s now  officially mine. She had 3 surgeries the last one being this past Tuesday when they just couldn’t save her leg.
so now I am a proud parent of a beautiful powerful brave GSD!

Hi Brishka and Anne, welcome! Bless you for being a foster failure! And we are total suckers for GSDs here so we have GOT to see a photo. Here's instructions for adding images , let me know if you'd like help. Thanks so much for giving her the home she deserves.

How can we help you and her have a good recovery? Have you seen our What to Expect articles or Jerry's Required Reading List ? Also, don't forget that the Tripawds Foundation can pay for your first rehab visit so please take advantage of the program. It's an excellent way to get off on the right paw, especially for dogs who lost a leg to trauma like this. What leg did she lose?

Thank you so much for giving  this sweet girl such a loving and caring home♥️.  She may have had a rough start to get to uou, but she now has beco e a very lucky tripawd to jave found her way to you.

Yes, let us know how recovery is going and if we can do anything to help you navi through it.  Good pain management   and lots of rest during recovery will put all this in the rear view mirror soon👍

And hes, weoften have members here because attempts to save a leg failed.  One thing about amputation,  it's one surgery, a "relative short recovery" and on to living life to the fullest!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Just wanted to say the world is such a better place with people like you❤️

Would love to see pics of your girl. Officially your girl!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Congrats. We adopted our Maggie after she had lost her right front. She was hit by a car and then abandoned in the backyard. We are coming up on 4 years and we have never regretted adopting her. This site is so helpful and supportive and has been a real blessing for us.

Again, congrats and enjoy your new member of the family.
