Hi Guys:
Some how I knew I shouldn't be so happy about how well ravyn has been doing. On the 23rd, she had another cancer check up...and two nodules were found in her lungs. They are small....but I am beyond devastated. There's never a good time for this, but my mom has been seriously ill and has been in the hospital and now a rehab facility.
My oncologist wants to start her on palladia, and if that doesn't work, switch back to conventional chemo.
All I can do is cry 🙁
Becky and Ravyn 🙁
Oh, Becky, I can only imagine how devastating a lung met diagnosis is. I am encouraged that the oncologist has a plan and a backup plan. That tells me he/she doesn't think it is time to give up. You have a huge amount of stress in your life right now, don't beat yourself up for being emotional about it.
Give Ravyn a big hug and have lots of great conversations with her. She has no time stamp on her butt, live each and every day, hour, to its fullest with her.
Wishing you the very best with Ravyn and your mom. Sending tons of good thoughts your way.

Love Never Ends
Sorry about the news, especially at this difficult time, but it is by no means a death sentence. Jerry lived about another 8 months after we discovered his lung mets. We attribute this primarily to his metronomics and K9 Immunity.
Be sure to also review the osteosarcoma metastasis treatment options document we recently posted in the Downloads blog . Check the Ask A Vet forum for a recent topic about Palladia too.

Many hugs from Sammy and me to you. I am so sorry you had to get this news, anytime for this isn't a good time, but especially with all that your mom is going through. Be strong, know that you still have Ravyn right next to you right now, and live in the moment with that. My prayers today will include your mom as well as you and Ravyn.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Ooooh, we're so sorry. Why on earth it seems like life has to hit us in the gut all at once sometimes is beyond me.
Your oncologist has a plan, which is fantastic. I too believe this is encouraging.
Check this out...this dog here, Reno, who we met a few months ago, had three lung mets a few months after amputation. Chemo reduced them to just one. And that was two years ago! He's still doing great! Our oncologist that we're talking to tomorrow, Dr. Chretin, is his doctor, so try to call in and ask any question you'd like OK?Always remember though that no matter what, the journey is about quality time together, no matter how much or how little of it we have. Stay strong and focus on the here and now, you'll both stay much saner if you can do that.
And remember, we're all here to listen when you want to vent OK?

Thank you everyone. I am still trying to get my head around this. I truly appreciate the support I have recieved here. It is true (and I never thought of it that way, and I do oncology research!) that she may have had these mets for a while, it's been three months since her last xray. They certainly haven't slowed her down at all.
Jerry, your post below has really given me a glimmer of hope. I love this dog with every fiber of my being, so I am scared and devastated. But your post really helped. I am praying so hard that Ravyn either has a response and no more mets, or at least can achieve stable disease. A response like you have below would make my spirit soar and help heal my wounded heart.
I live near Seattle, WA...what time is the call in for the vet? Not sure I can call in as I am running back and forth from the rehab center to be with my mom and lear how to help her when she comes home. But I would like to try to call in.
Each day I have with Ravyn is a blessing....I just want a lot more of them I guess. I love her so much, she really helps me through life especially these last several years with my mom's health issues and a couple of my own. The one constant I seem to have in my life is Ravyn. I know you guys here understand me completely..
Thanks so much again,
Becky

yuckie! finding out that cancer has spread, even a little bit is a horrible feeling. I remember when I felt the mets in my dog, Jack's, liver, I cried and cried and called my vet saying it was time to put him down, blah blah blah blah blah. She was like, Laura, take a deep breath...look at Jack. How is he doing? So I calmed down and looked at him and the little bugger was looking at me like I was nuts. He was FINE! Our dogs don't know what is wrong with them, and as long as they are not in any pain, they don't really care. It is way harder on us than it is on them. The motto here is "one day at a time"...take a look at Ravyn - today she is fine 🙂
