Nova and I just got back from her 3rd dose of Carboplatin. Everything went outstanding and I couldn't be more thrilled. I was a wreck this morning on the way to the vet because I knew they would be doing chest x-rays and I was just hoping and praying that they would be clear. And they were! Laugh Yippeeeeee!!! There is one more round of Carbo in 3 weeks and then it will be time for the "wait and see" phase.  I hope the Carbo has kicked this nasty stuff out of her and that we will have many more hoppy, healthy months ahead. What a great way to start 2009!

By the way, it looks like her bouts of reverse sneezing were nothing to worry about. She did it again last night after she gobbled up her food. The vet seemed to think it was from her eating to fast (she is usually not a gobbler). I am just thankful it didn't have anything to do with something going on in the lungs.

I am going to update her blog later today with more details, but I just wanted to let you know the good news. Thanks to all who have been keeping up on Nova and offering support and advice, I really appreciate it. Also, to those who have received sad news lately, please know that I pray for you and your fur babies every day.

I am glad that Nova is still doing well.  Her rash must not have been serious.  Keep up the good work!

YAYYYY! Nova!!! Keep it up girl!!

Sue, there are a couple of ways you can deal with the wolfing of food, get a big ball or a big smooth rock& put it in the middle of her food so she has to eat around it. Or there is a bowl you can buy that has posts built into it for dogs that inhale food.

Sue & Nova -

This is wonderful news! We pray for continued good results.

Janie & Calamity -

What a fabulous suggestion for those of us who have dogs who wolf down their food!

Hugs!

I'm soooo HOPPY to hear about Nova's good news and yes, I completely understand about FREAKING out about the first round of chest xrays - not that I'm a worrier or anything! LOL

Seriously, I'm thrilled and my heart just sings for you right now. Enjoy this special time with Nova and please continue to keep us posted - you're in our thoughts and prayers while you kick cancer's $%#@!!!

Janie - your suggestion is HUGE for me - both my boyz SCARF, INHALE and SUCK their food down in seconds flat...It makes me nervous how fast they both eat...thank you!!!

Love

Great update, I know how much better it makes you feel with each bit of good news!

Nova and Trouble are just a couple weeks off on treatments.  We do #3 in 2 weeks.  Every bit of good news for Nova is a boost of encouragement for us.

Yea Nova, keep up the good work!

Shanna,

Is Trouble doing the Carboplatin too?  The plan is for Nova to have 4 rounds, but I see on here that some people did 5 rounds. How many are you doing for Trouble?

Trouble is doing carboplatin.  She is scheduled for 5 rounds.  I'm not sure how they determine the number of treatments.  It seems the most common seems to be 5, but I've also seen 4 and 6.  Maybe the size of the dog?
