Please keep your fingers crossed for Riots brother, Czar. He's been limping a lot for two weeks. I took him in as soon as it started. He was originally diagnosed with anaplasmosis. When he was still limping a week later, I took him back to the vet. They said stay the course. Two days later he could barely use his front left leg. I took him to the ER, and they diagnosed him with a pretty decent case of elbow arthritis through x-rays. I made an appointment with a orthopedic specialist for today. She reviewed the scans, and believes she may seen the beginnings of bone cancer on the humerus. She hopes it's not, and it's just a rotatory cuff injury, or possibly something else. I sent the x-rays to Riot's oncologist and talked with him. I'm hoping to hear back later today, that there's no sign of cancer. Today is Czar's 9th birthday.
Geez, this is unsettling, to say the least. We're not gonna tell you not to worry, because we know better. But we will tell you that it certainly could be a rotary cuff/arthritis situation. We've certainly seen that before.
Sending all the pawsitive energy in the world!

Edit: Ugh. The oncologist, not the ER vet this time, called me back. He can't be sure it isn't the earliest signs of a bone tumor. He doesn't want to jump there, as there are several other things it could be.
Well, mostly good news. They're sure it's not osteosarcoma. So lightning didn't strike twice here. They do think there's something odd on the views. They want to rule out more serious issues, so we're going back in for more xrays on Monday. They'll decide where to go from there. At least we're pretty sure it's not emergent. He needs more involved sedation, as, simply put, he's kinda fat.
Oh my gosh just now catching up. OK, this does sound mostly optimistic. We won't jump to anything else too, and will keep thinking that way and our paws will remain crossed for good news.
How is Czar doing today? I hope he's feeling better.
Got any photos of him? We would love to give him a screen smooch!
