Riot didn't do well on his trial drugs. After just one day he was quite sick. I'm not letting what may be his last couple of months be rough, if I can at all help it. I'll be calling off his trial tomorrow. We're going to go with the vaccine trial in CT. There are no guarantees.

I'm so sorry to hear about Riot's mets - I wait with my breath held for each met check with Grover. Is the vaccine the one out of Yale from Dr. Mark Mamula? Grover is on this vaccine - we chose it based on his good safety data and how responsive and helpful Dr. Mamula and his team were. Grover is coming due for his 3 week booster on Tuesday. He has an injection site swelling from the first vaccine that does not bother him at all and supposedly is a "good" thing bc it is associated with a better immune response.

Thinking of you guys <3

Didn't  want to say much before, other than talk with the Vet about side effects.  I k ow thst ma y sogs hace jad side effects dro. Palladia roght pff rhe bat, or after just two or three doses.  Not sure about the Losatran.  Of course, every dog is different and some do not  have side effects, so you never know unless you try.

My 2 cents is that I also  would not proceed under thise circumstances, especially  with Riot having  eating and digestive issues.  Feeling good and having  a great quality life  is one of the best treatments a dog can have!

❤❤❤

Yes, that's the trial we're going to be on. We can only hope.

Yes. Quality of life is the most important thing.

Oh poor Riot! How is he feeling this morning?

Do you know what the trial drugs were? I'm just curious.

Of course, quality of life is what matters when it comes to anything but especially this disease. You always do right by him.

He's much better. He even ate breakfast. He was on Palladia and Losartan.

Riot and Czar got their vaccine trial yesterday. It was a very long drive, but hopefully worth it. The main problem now is Riot it totally non weight bearing without support on his remaining leg. We go for xrays tomorrow. I'm terrified that this is the end.

Almost always these types of things are muscle strain, or a partial tear, or knee issues, etc, etc. Eaxh ine pf thise cause the dog to hold the leg up and try not to bear weight.  Before I could get Frankie  into the Vet,  he actually  was walking on two...one front, one back.

What's  his pain level like?

All it takes is one ,little tweak on a rock or twig to cause something  like this.

Also, did this happen  after the .ong carride ot before?  Qhere was the vaccine injected?

Until you can get him in, try Rimadyl and, of course, as much rest as possible.

Hugs

YAY on the vaccine beginning!

x2 what Sally suggested. Almost always we see that these things are muscle strains. Did he slip on the floors at the clinic? Or was the vaccine an intra-muscular injection? If so his leg could be sore.

Don't panic. I know it's hard not to. You've got so much on your mid right now and it can easily go to all sorts of scary places. Don't let it. Riot isn't, he just wants to feel better.

Keep us posted. We are sending lots of love.

No, this has been going downhill since last Saturday. On Wednesday, he could only walk supported in the sling. No independent standing at all. He was fine last Friday. He's still happy. He's eating fine, but is definitely in some pain, or he would walk. So he's been on Rimadyl since his surgery, and we added a new med today, but I can't remember it. We have an orthotic appointment, but not until Dec 24th. I don't see how I can not worry, as the bad news just keeps coming. Riot isn't ready to go yet, he so wants to get up and move.

We can certainly  understand why you would jump to worse case scenario.  We all do it on this journey......but you really have earned a free pass to be scared.

That said, no. Riot is NOT going anywhere anytime soon!!!!   All signs I dictate he has done "so etching to that leg and none pf which is 'worse case".  FWIW, rarely does osteo go to anotjer limb.

Is it possible to get him to the Rehab Specialist,  or better yet, see if they will make a house call?  They are soooo good at determining  if he has a joint injury, or crucite issue, etc.

IF, and I would BEG, but IF you can't  get an Ortho visit sooner, see if your regular  Vet can fit him in.  They can do some range of motion, stays, etc.  And just heads up, if they do range of motion he WILL be sore for a few days.

He's going to his regular vet tomorrow. They're going to test his motion, and do xrays. He has a PT appointment after, if he's up to it, and we don't find anything life ending. We also have an appointment on the 24th with an orthotic specialist. I can't do sooner.

Oh good!  I know ,this will give you sone peace of mind....and goodness knows you could use some peace of mind!!.

I wouldn't  think they would do any PT on him tomorrow considering  he's basically straining ro  just use his two legs right now and his third is painful.

A good massage though..... now that's  a plus for sure!!!!

Pawsitive  energy from all pf us to handsome Riot!!
