We rescued Oliver from behind our gas station down the street with the help of the employees. When we first saw Oliver he never showed any hesitation with us. The lady who works at the gas station helped rescue him and she told us that she was surprised because he did NOT like anyyone else who tried comforting him or helping him. I recently lost my best friend Garfield due to cancer and i always told him to come back to me as another little orange kitty so I would know it was him and to show up in the actual cartoon Garfield so I can know he is still with me. I kid you not… the same day we rescued Oliver and we were on the way to the vet, I saw a little boy with a Garfield shirt on. When do you ever see the cartoon Garfield anymore? Oliver is a little orange kitty too and he hops around due to damage to his front right paw. He’s been to two different clinics and we have been told that he was either born with a limp limb or it could have potentially been injured at a very young age and healed this way. Oliver is beginning to produce fluid in his paw from having weight on it. He has no control of his arm so he just drags it along with him. We have been trying to take him to get it drained but it is costing us tremendous amounts of money each visit. We have been suggested several times that an amputation would be highly recommended. We are hoping that we could find some help funding Oliver’s surgery. This excess build up of fluid can potentially turn into an infection we have been told and we would just like to help give Oliver the life he deserves. Since he is still very young we feel like it would be in his best interest to have this done now before he gets older and has a harder time adjusting to the amputation. 💙

Hi Sophia and Oliver, welcome! Thank you for rescuing this sweet kitty. I agree that your Garfield sent Oliver to you, what a great story about the t-shirt you saw!

We are dealing with a similar situation with our Nellie, who is 3.5-legged. Her leg isn't as damaged as Oliver's though, I'm so sorry he's got such a tough situation.

I have edited your post because personal fundraising appeals go against community rules here. Most folks are also dealing with high vet bills, and our community would be inundated with requests if we allowed it. Instead, please see if you qualify for our Tripawds Foundation ASAP Grant Program geared toward low-income pet parents. If you don't qualify, here is a list to other organizations with programs that might work for you:

Where to Find Help for Emergency Vet Bills

Thanks for understanding.

Absolutely Garfield sent you Oliver!  And good for you for recognizing  the way Garfield  connected with you....purrfect!😎

Hope you can find some financial  assistance from some of the links Jerry gave you.  Perhaps there is a Vet  a  Cat Rescue could connect you with who would work on a payment plan.

Thank you for rescuing Oliver. Stay connected and let us know how things are going. If you are able to proceed with amputation this is definitely the best place to be for support and information.

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
