Yeah Ramsey! Sounds like he's doing good. I would just add a reminder about the effects drugs have on dogs. Atlas tried to do all the normal stuff like hike his leg and "poop walking" as we named it. We think mostly because he was so dopey he didn't know better. Now that he's off the pain meds he's found himself a nice boy tripawd pee stance and he stopped the walking and balances nicely on his three legs to poo now too. We found it wasn't until about day 11 post op that he really started making adjustments in noticing the leg was gone. He actually laid on his amp site from day 3. He would get himself up every couple hours and turn himself over. Eventually after about 1 week confinement we let him venture to the living room for a change of scenery. Now, he cruises the house as he pleases, but mostly sleeps when I'm on the computer.
We did three times a day outside for potty routine and it worked great, but I had to tell him it when enough for first couple weeks before his judgment could be trusted again post drugs.
Head scratches to Ramsay! Keep us posted.

Thanks Patricia and Atlas. I recieved Ramsay's harness yesterday so I'm excited about that. Once his stiches are out, we'll try it on. Now that the weather has warmed up, we can go out and have fun driving around and going to the park. Still trying the raised leg routine though. He hasn't laid on the amp side though since that one time. I guess it hurt him and he isn't anxious to try it again anytime soon.
Hi all. I just want to update what's been going on with Ramsay. He had his second chemo last week and so far his one side effect is something called a double nadir, which means his white blood cell count goes down after chemo, goes up again, then back down before finally rising. So his chemo treatment happens every four weeks instead of every three. I take him for therapy every other week for a massage, laser therapy, and a walk on a treadmill while he's in a tank of water. He's been doing well and I'm glad for the extra time God has given us to be together. I'm taking him to the park shortly, then we'll go for a car ride, which he always enjoys. I hope everyone who has had to get their pet amputated will have as good an experience as we have had. I was unsure at first but it was one of the best decisions I ever made. God bless.
Wonderful update! So glad you're blessed with some ongoing quality time to love and spoil and love some more! Every moment is truly sacred, isn't it?
Just a little 2¢ worth----Glad he's not overdoing it with the rehab treadmill. Sometimes others have one too much too soon during initial recovery and chemo. Sounds like you have your boh paced just right!
And it still even gets better! Nappy Hannah is about four and a half months past amputation and K bow down in awe of her every day! She may lay around a little more these days but she does it with gusto and tons of joy:-)
The best to you and Ramsey a d thrilled to hear such a great update!
Lap up all the loving Ramsey---you deserve it! Enjoy sticking your handsome head out the with Dow on your car rides!! sailing in the breeze!

There you are! We have been thinking about Ramsey and hoping to get such a great update. So glad to hear he is doing so well and sounds like you are too. YEAH!!!
We're impressed with that laundry list of activities, Atlas is tired just hearing about it. Although we didn't experience any of the bad side effects of chemo, it certainly knocks the energy out of him and he has to sleep for 2-3 days afterwards. We had to wait until after he completes all of his chemo to get started on all the physical therapy and we are so excited to get started on all those things Ramsey is doing.
I'm with Jerry, can we see some pics of that beautiful tripawd warrior!?!?
