In the words of my dearly departed Angel Roxie howling down from above.....
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
What fabulous news! And the peace of mind coming from multiple reviews and concurring opinions! You will be hearing big long sighs of relief from your Tripawds pack echoing all over the place.
Very good point about the xrays - Roxie had one done at the older emergency vet that showed nothing and 3 months later the story was very different; very glad you listened to that guardian voice in your head and followed up.
Beer and ice cream tonight!!

Yay, Rexo! So glad to hear it!!
And that brings up a good reminder of something one of the cancer experts Tripawds had on (years ago) said about early detection and avoiding misdiagnosis too - get the best digital x-rays you can for the clearest tumor-detection! Don't know if it would have made a difference in my Yoda's case, but in hindsight it seems clear to me he was feeling the tumor long before they found it. He stopped wanting to get in the car several months before his diagnosis and I told his vet there was no behavioral reason for it, but she told me there must be. He eventually added a limp that would come and go, they said it must be a pulled muscle/tendon, finally a few months later, when the limping wouldn't stop, it showed up on the x-ray and they pointed out that it was to the point of starting to swell where the tumor was too.

Oh wow I really hope it isn't cancer! I thought the fungal infections were only in the southwest but if another dog nearby has one then who knows? And yes, good x-ray machines can make all the difference in the world. We found out about Jerry's osteosarcoma when we went to a vet with a better x-ray machine/CT scan. I hope you get some great news!

Sorry I haven't posted pictures up until now but been busy. So, I have some news. Unfortunately it isn't good but it's not horrible either. Rexo had still been limping and more xrays still didn't show anything. Ended up doing an MRI this morning and unfortunately Rexo had a massive tumor surrounding his left shoulder. I immediately had them amputate his leg jsut a couple of hours ago. Doctor called and said everything went fantastic and Rexo is doing well. Also said the tumor was about 8" by 3" big but he's confident he removed everything. I'm so sad but I kind've knew this was a possibility and I know my Rexo won't be in pain anymore.
I am sorry about the tumor. You are right when you say Rexo won't be in pain anymore. That is the positive. Did the vet give you any indication of what type of tumor? Now the recovery period there will be ups & downs so don't get too worried. I hope you get good news from the pathology. Any questions don't hesitate to ask them.
hugs

That is a big tumor!
The good news it that you know what you are facing and Rexo will be out of pain and able to get on with his life.
Be sure you put your sadness aside when you see Rexo- he needs his pack leader to show him everything will be fine.
And when the dust settles you have to tell me how you trained him to wear his doggles. One of my quad pugs has serious vision problems that might be helped with doggles but he doesn't like them.

So sorry ro hear about having tohave the surgery after all, but I can only imagine that this obstacle will be easy for you as you are already a strong and brave hero. Thank you for all you have done for everyone.
As a front amp I recommend an elevated dish as it makes it so much easier for them.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Strng brave hero indeed! Luanne summed up your boy perfectly!
And good for you for not hesitating to do what's best for Rexo.
Yeah, recovery s no picnic. But onceit takes place andhe is free vrom all pain, you will be amazed at how well he gets along. He's already been limpingon three legs, somhe'll adjust quickly.
Now he can lt you be his hero and care for him and spoil him and love him even more than before.....if that's even possible!! and, clearlyyou are already each others hero...so no changes there.
Thanks so much for updating us. CONGRATULATIONS ON COMPLETING SURGERY! You can sleep well tonight...you may be up off and on for the next few nights!. Please check in with us when you bring him home...we want to celebrate withyou!!
Take care and knw that all is well!
