Paris at the vet

I am filled with gratitude as I report that Paris is celebrating her 1 year ampuversary today. She has had some ups and downs the past few weeks, so I am very grateful.

One year ago our 4 year old Lab had her front right leg amputated, 5 months after the first episode of limping. She tolerated surgery well and we thank our wonderful vets at Morris Animal Hospital in Granger IN, Dr Doug Morris (ortho surgeon) and Dr Terry Randolph. We also are blessed with all the wonderful staff that works at the office. Paris received 4 chemo treatments of Carboplatin and after the last treatment her chest X-ray in April showed multiple lung mets. On that day we came home, had a good cry and decided that we would love our girl one day at a time and Paris would live with cancer.

Paris celebrated today by having turkey, rice and tomato for breakfast. She loves any vegetable like tomato, cucumber, carrot, green beans, etc…..let's face it Paris likes to eat !!

We have had 4 days of snow here in Northern Indiana, so Paris has been out trudging through the snow……..all 22″ !! Randy (Paris' Dad) shoveled her an area to do her business…….but she wants to go out in the deep stuff.

Paris and I went to visit her girlfriends at the vet office today. They all love her and she walks in like she owns the place and knows exactly where the treat jar is on the counter!!  The staff considers Paris a star and a miracle dog in many ways.

We went to lunch at Sonic and Paris had a cheeseburger with pickle and tomato! Got home and she ate snow by the front door, and now is taking a nap!

I wanted to share the news of our celebration today with all my friends at Tripawds. Our community has had many losses in the past few months and I keep all of you in my heart. I found myself dreading today because Paris has had some rough days recently. I had to refocus on a positive outlook and save my grieving for a later day. Today I am filled with joy and love for my girl.

Thanks to all here at Tripawds, especially Rene & Jim,

Ginny & Paris

Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!

Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!

I have been waiting for this posting all day, but then I really never have had any sense of time.  Dad is always saying that every day we get to spend with our companions is a day for celebration, but reaching a milestone as great as One Year Ampuversary is definitely a reason to PAWRTY.  Dad will take me for a ride in the truck, and while he may not be able to scratch my muzzle, he does feel my presence.  It will be good.  We just have to celebrate for Paris and Ginny who have been such wonderful supporters to us during my TriPaws Journey, that we want to say a great CONGRADULATIONS!!.  You really do rock and we want to make sure that you know.  Dad will be lifting his glass tonight, facing eastward and remembering his great warrior friends.

Congratulations Paris, Ginny & Randy!  What a milestone for you guys, and what an inspiration for us all. Paris sounds like she has the same 'quieen' status Trouble has at the vet.  She is a special patient, they all know her, they all dote on her.  We are blessed.

I love all the celebratroy food Paris had!  Sure hope she doesn't have a tummy ache :).  We have had a lot of loss lately, even more reason to celebrate the victories.  I'm hoping you guys see many, many more.

Hi Ginny and Paris

I am glad Paris is celebrating her lab-ness by eating whatever treats she finds today. Thanks for letting us know - she is a miracle dog and has a great story to share. Eight or more months since you found the mets even though that was only three months after surgery. Amazing but terrific!!

Wishing you a great day and many more. Congratulations!!!

Yipppeeee!!!! What wonderful, tail-wagging news!  And a CHEESEBURGER from SONIC?  You lucky dog you!  Looks like you got the royal treatment, just like I did on my ampuversary in November.  Mmmmmmm..... I love to eat snow too!

It's been pawesome hopping down this path with you, Paris.  I wish you many more months of ampuversaries. It seems like only yesterday I was at my 1-Year Pawty and now I am almost to my 14-month Ampuversary (11th) and my 6th birthday (26th)! Tripawd Warriors Unite!!!

It's so nice to see my Mom with a big smile for a change, rather than tears.  This is a ray of sunshine amidst all the tragedy our Tripawd family has suffered lately. Mom is toasting you right now with a nice glass of vino, and me, well I am toasting you with a big 'ol pigs ear.

Yesssss!!! Hoppy 1 year Ampuversary Paris! We remember the day you came to Tripawds, and it seems like so long ago.

You are such a survivor, and we are all in awe of your strength and resilience. You definitely haven't let those nasty mets get you down, and have even surpassed my own seven month timeframe of living with mets. You ROCk!

Our family here loves to hear wonderful stories like yours, and we send a big hug out to your Mom for taking the time to write about living with cancer. What a great way to look at it. I think that nobody can predict what will happen tomorrow, as much as humans try to believe that they can. Whether we have cancer or not, we will not let the uncertainty of tomorrow make us afraid of living life to the fullest, today. To us, that's the very best way to live.

Meanwhile. . . . tomatoes? Wow, you really do like food!

Congratulations Paris!!!!

WOW!!  You are having a beautiful Ampuversary.  Miss Spirit Cherry got her reply in before your photos and "snow" clip appeared so I had to tell you just how great they look.  Definately brings smiles to anyone who views.  My one question - was the snow eating a substitue for Ice Cream or will that come later in the day?  What a great Pawrent!  What a great Family!

Congratulations to Paris - Today you rule!!
