You can tell from the images and videos you have posted Nubi is an absolute sweetheart; MOST Orangies are, IMO;)
I'm sorry for this setback, and I hope they sent you home with pain meds!
I am glad you all discovered this now. I wondered about the larger stub and if it would affect him in the long-term on three. He is going to be lightning-fast after this leg goes. Wait and see.
Over Nubi's future and lifetime, this will be a minor setback and this is NOT to say amputation is a minor surgery or cheap, far from it. Nubi will bounce right back, though, and be glad to get rid of that painful stub/leg. Please have the pain management discussion before his surgery. Find out what they will send you home with and for how long and that you can successfully get that into Nubi.
He could NOT be more adorable and I love the cone choice;)
HUGS and smooch that sweet face for us, please!!!!

Ohhhh he is so sweet. And I'm so sorry for the situation! That does look incredibly painful.Β
Please don't worry. He is so young and strong he will be exactly as Holly described. Sooo fast and a very happy kitty to not be in pain. Just make sure his pain control is good so that recovery can be smooth.
Let us know how we can help, ask any questions you'd like and keep us posted.
I know it sounds strange to be celebrating the fact that he's going to get an amputation, but this is definitely, definitely, definitely, the best solution!Β
Yes, I cannot imagine the pain that has caused him. As mentioned, I do hope he's on pain meds now until that amputation will take place. Two weeks seems like an eternity, doesn't it? I would ask to be on a cancellation list if possible. Also,Β considering the excruciating pain of a chance for infection, Etc I would like to believe that they would fit him in sooner.
Keep us posted and let us know how we can help you navigate through this process. One surgery One recovery and done!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thank you all for the kind sentiments and optimistic attitudes! For those concerned about his current level of pain and discomfort, please rest assured that it is (and will be) managed. We also have him on antibiotics to lessen the chances of infection. We are a little sad that he will have to adjust to having even less of a leg after the operation, but as many of you have stated, it's for the better in the long run.Β
Nubi was accepted for the ASAP grant that your organization offers and it's going to make up a big difference for us. Now, if only we can get the appointment to be sooner, that would be ideal. We will definitely be reaching out to the vet clinic this Monday to see what can be done. Words can't communicate the gratitude and appreciation we have for this community, but as I've told Jim and Rene, we are deeply touched to know there are other people out there with such gracious hearts that would help give a second chance to animals with disabilities. Will keep everyone updated on the process and recovery. Thank you!
Oh, I'm so happy you will get help from Tripawds Brilliant. ππ»ππ»ππ»
You'll see a new Nubi after recovery and be glad you could do this for him, not to him; you will be even more amazed when he is comfortable what a cat on three can do. Not can't do.
Great on the pain meds. Yes, we are big advocates for pain meds for good reason. pain management makes a good recovery. We want Nubi to be as pain-free as possible now and in recovery. We see too many cats that don't come home with adequate coverage and suffer, and humans too, trying to help. That is why we give a heads-up on pain management beforehand. Excellent job advocating for Nubi now and in the future!
Yes, we HOPE they can get Nubi in sooner!
He is lucky to have you both on all counts.
Give him a chin scratch from us, please.
((Hugs)))
