Hi All-

I'm new to the forum, not sure if this is the right place to post. We adopted a rescue puppy 3-4 weeks ago (from these great people http://www.fochp.org), knowing he needed a front leg amputation due to birth defect. He had his surgery on Friday and is recovering. He is about 13.5 weeks old. Looking forward to learning as much as I can about the community and reading all your great advice so we can plan on him having a long and happy life. His name is Chance.

Welcome, and bless you for rescuing Chance! Your future forum posts will not require moderation.

We've moved your topic here to the Share Your Story forum since it doesn't specifically discuss Chances treatment plan. Be sure to bookmark Jerry's Required Reading List for lots of helpful links and consider downloading the Tripawds e-books for immediate answers to the most common questions about canine amputation recovery and care.

Thanks for sharing the photos! Chance is a good-lookin' pup! big-grin

We are pretty sure he is a shepherd mix, although we don't know what the other is. Several people have said maybe shepherd/golden. His mother was a feral dog who had her puppies under a trailer in Lancaster, CA. Luckily, someone noticed her going under and feeding the puppies and called the rescue who was able to get all the puppies (although unfortunately not the mother). All the other puppies were fine, so they got adopted quickly. We'll see how he looks in a few months and how big he gets:)

Congratulations on your new little one!! What a cutie! And what a wonderful family to consider adopting a trpawd!

My warnings for the future... They are addictive!! Once you go tripawd you never go back. Four legs is way over rated. They are like potato chips you can never have just one. big-grin
