Hi: My name is Maggie and I am a four year old black Lab mix. Here is my story: My original owner let me run and I was hit by a car. I broke my right front leg. Instead of getting medical attention, I was tied up in the back yard and left. A concerned neighbor called the local ASPCA about me. When I was rescued, I weighed 40 lbs., had a severe flea infestation, and still had that broken leg. My rescuers tried to save my leg, but ended up amputation. In June of 2018, my future Mom & Dad met me and the next thing I knew, I was heading to my forever home. Today, I weigh 70 lbs., go for two walks a day, and attend a weekly group training class with all kinds of dogs. Not only do I get and give lots of kisses and hugs, I also have lots of family who come over to visit, including two fantastic grandboys who really shower me with love. I am still a little nervous when a storm approaches, but I cuddle with my mom & dad and all is well.

Well, that's my story, Don't you just love happy endings? I do.

Hello and welcome, your future posts will not have to wait for approval.

I'm sorry Maggie had a rough start, but she obviously scored when she found her forever home!

My first Tripawd was a little black Pug named Maggie- she lost a back leg to cancer.  My current Tripawd Elly, a Pug mix, was hit by a car at 7 months old and lost a rear leg as a result.  Her original owners had her off leash too, and it was a bit before they turned her into a rescue group.  Some people don't deserve dogs!

I'm glad to hear she is doing well.  Elly was afraid of cars when I first got her but is now over that- she is just over 4 years old now.  She has fear issues and separation anxiety that we are still working on.  Oddly, loud noises like fireworks or thunder don't bother her.

We spend a lot of time on food puzzles and games and we do the sport of Nose Work.

We would love to see pictures of your Maggie!  Here is how to add photos to forum posts.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.

Thanks all. I will try to post a photo in the near future, This site has really been informative as having a tripaw is new to us. We did not realize what all was involved with a tri paw. All of our efforts with Maggie is to protect the remaining three legs. ex: we installed lots of carpet runners and throw rugs throughout the house for better traction , the harness is great for getting Maggie out of the car or off the bed. All of these ideas came from this site. Keep up the great job and we appreciate input from the Tri Paw community.

Hi Maggie, this is Brownie. Just wanted to say hi and hope you are doing well. Hope we can have another meet once the weather gets cooler!  Take care,

Brownie

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Hi Maggie,

I would love too.  I am continuing to loose weight, so I am getting around even better.
