Ditto! I feel bad for the people that dont get it. they have never had the oportunity to experience that special connection.
I had a few in that group that asked me the same question. And then there's the group that doesnt understand "spending that much money on a dog." 🤬 Give me the choice, pay down all my bills to zero or let me keep my furry soulmate. I dont even have to think twice.
Brownie is such a special guy and so loved. He's sharing his wisdom with us all 😉 tonights lesson is we need to try a new massager from amazon!

My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.
Its the best 6 bucks i have ever spent.
Yes Brownie is a rockstar, but more important he is my rockstar!
Did I ever tell y'all that Brownie was baptised? My former church was having a baptism for pets. Brownie was a little over a year old and I only have had him a couple of months. So when it was our turn to walk forward I was so proud to have this beautiful animal by my side, and so excited he was finally mine! Knowing he would never be neglected again. So the pastor puts a few drops of water on Brownies head, and saids a prayer. Then the pastor reaches out to shake my hand. What did Brownie do? Before I knew it he lunged at the pastor and almost knocked him down. Luckly the pastor laughed it off, and said "way to protect your mama Brownie." Lol
For some reasons I keep having old memories of Brownie and I spinning in my head.
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

Oh what a cute story! No I don't recall that one. Too funny about him lunging at the pastor! Did you get any photos of the big day?

Brownie has his appointment today with his Hollostic Vet. When Dr. Knapp and her team came in they started applauding Brownie! That was so unexpected, but made us feel really good! Tomorrow will be 11 months since Brownie's diagnoses. They are cheering him on! I really appreciate their support, unlike his GP who said the rest of his time is Icing on the Cake.
So Dr. Knapp looked at Brownie's X-ray and said In the L1,2 and 3 lumbar the pain is moderate, and the L 5 and 6 is mild. Brownie had his first round of acupuncture and will have two more one week apart. Depending on how Brownie does we will continue with once a month treatments. We will also start his Ozone treatments again, but for now I am more concerned with his pain. I brought up Brownie's bowel issues. How Brownie does not know he is going until it happens. She said since Brownie is an mature fellow, it may be that his brain is not sending out the signal in time. So we are trying a supplement called Cholodin to see if that helps any.
As some of you know I have been concerned with Brownie's hack. He has had two lung X-rays in the last four months by two different vets. They both said he had old man scarring in the lungs and allergies. Brownie hacked in front of Dr. Knapp. I said "that's it that's the hack". I was relieved when she said "Oh, that's nothing, that is what I call an Old Mans Cough". So relieved to hear that! I also learned that Riydmal has been proven to slow down the growth of tumors. I thought that was interesting.
Brownie came home, took a drink of water, and then put himself to bed on his Urban Sprawl Bed with his blanket. He is sacked out!
A special thanks to Paula for posting about acupuncture. I remember reading about it, but it completely slipped my mind until I read Paula's post in Ava's forum.
Thanks Paula!!!

Yeeee haw! Wow what a great visit that was for you and Brownie! And SUPER DUPER CONGRATS and HOPPY AMPUVERSARY BROWNIE! Wow, you're almost at 1 year post amputation. Amazing. We are so proud of you and your momma. Here's to many, many more ampuversaries.
I'm really happy the vet visit went well and Brownie's issues are pretty mild compared to what could have been happening. These issues all sound so manageable. Your vet is truly amazing. I love that she is giving him that Cholodin. I had to look it up, it's to help improve cognitive function in dogs. Let us know if it works for him. Then maybe I'll start taking it too 😉
Well, between the Old Man Cough and the Old Man Pooping, Brownie is just living his best life as an oldie but a goodie. I'm so so happy that you got a really nice report card, overall, and hope that the acupuncture helps (it should). YAY for Tripawds members sharing treatment ideas for life on three legs. It makes such a difference!
Thanks for the pupdate Nancy. I'm thrilled this was not all that bad of a report.

Brownie coming up on a year next month then he will be 13 a month after that. It is all bitter sweet. Because I realize he is a mature guy. But I am not going to think negative. His vet said he looks great so I am going to go with that!
I am so proud of him! He is one stubban and determined dog!

Hey Brownie, congratulations!! Not everyone is bestowed with the honour of "Old Man Cough and the Old Man Pooping" designation. At 13 years old you are really living life to the fullest.
Jerry's right, Nancy, you do have a GREAT attitude. It'll serve you and Brownie well.

Thank you all for the kind words! We are just taking one day at a time. Today Brownie seems to be having a pretty good day. I'm hopeing a couple more rounds of accupunture will help. I snuck out and got Brownie his favorite rabbit stick for 7:00 treat time. Thought he deserves something special. And of course Sassy and Max too...
