Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
What a great update! Happy New Year Brownie!
Did the vet mention adequan injections? It did wonders for Tani when she was maxed out on meds and supplements for her arthritis. Something to keep in mind since wonder boy doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon .

I asked about the injection and he said by the xray the gabapentin would be better. Brownie had those injections about 5 months ago from the Hollostic vet. So if he doesn't do better I Ann going to ask them.
This is the vet that did his surgery and gave Brownie 3 months with amputation only. So I really didn't care about the icing in the cale remark, but I think he was teyingbto prepare me. Bit debate not ready to think about that.
I really appreciate everybody's input on this. It helped me at the vet to explain and ask questions.
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

Oh I'm so glad there's nothing major happening! Just saw this pupdate, that's wonderful news!
Arthritis in the spine isn't uncommon in Tripawds. As for the Gabapentin, if it makes him too sleepy you can start giving it to him at night and working your way into the full dose so his body acclimates to it. See our Gabapentin article for details.
YAY!

Boy you are right about the Gabapentin. I have him one last night around 8 and it knocked him out. He usually gets up at 5.30 with me. I had to wake him up at 7 for breakfast.
The other day I put a tramadol in a pill pocket and gave it to Brownie. He spit it out and before I could get it little Max got it. That tramadol did not affect Max at all, but one
tramadol makes Brownie whoozy. He is so funny!

He's a sensitive sweetheart! Yeah, for dogs like Brownie it's smart take it slow with the Gaba and build up, according to Dr. Petty.
Now our Wyatt Ray on the other hand, takes 400 mg of Gaba 3 times daily and I swear it has no effect on him. He's a nut.

I guess they are just like people. I have a high tolerance, but my ex who is 210 lbs is a light weight like Brownie. Lol

Hi Pam,
Thank you for the nice words. We don't listen to the vet anymore when it comes to how much time Brownie has left. Brownie will let me know when it's time. But he is doing great and I am sure Lucky will too.
As Sally saids, don't listen to statics. Nobody has an date stamped on their butt.

I completely agree. The statistics stink and I am not going to let them drag us down. Happy New Year to you all!
Hey Maggie!

Sally, since you are always telling Brownie to ask for ice cream I thought you might get a kick out of this.
So I was a little lazy this week and didn't make dog treats. I had some store bought ones in the pantry. Max and Sassy took theirs but Brownie just turned his nose up. I told him, but Brownie that is all we have. I showed him the pantry. I showed him the cookie jar was empty, but he just would not accept it. So I took the treat and rolled it in a little ice cream and that little turd grabbed it out of my hand and ate every bit of it.
Brownie is not spoiled, he just knows what he wants. Lol

Lol! Oh my goodness Brownie i love you!!!! He is clearly very discerning when it comes to his snacks!!! 😉 hold out for the good snackies buddy. Mom will get it right if you give her a few trys.
Roane was very picky about her snacks too. My husband use to laugh at us because there was one flavor of chips she wouldnt touch with a 10 ft pole. I would give her one and she would turn her face away and give me "the look" like, really!?! This is not food mom?!? So of course mom would get her a special cheerio snack instead. Not sure why but she LOVED plain cheerios.

My sweet soulmate Roane was diagnosed with osteo in June of 2019. Had a rear leg amp on July 2nd & crossed the rainbow bridge to be with her sister Gypsy on the first day of Autumn Sept 23 2019.
