Hello to Everyone!  Hope you and your pawrents had a great long weekend.  My mom had to go and visit my grandmother in Puerto Rico as she is a bit feeling under the weather so I got to stay home with my dad and my two brothers.  As the last time my bloodwork showed that my cell count was still a bit borderline, we skipped chemo.  The vet decided to wait one extra week so yesterday my dad took me to see Dr. Golden and they did another bloodwork to see how everything was going.  Great news!  My bloodcell count was up and 2nd chemo took place.  To make it even better my mom got back from PR yesterday afternoon so I was totally happy to see her.  My chemo went well and I was feeling a bit pewnie in the afternoon but nothing a little bit of loving and pampering could not cure.  Today I am taking it easy as my mom wants to make sure I don't over do it (yep she is back!).  Dr. Golden and my pawrents decided to do my chemo in a 4wk cycle instead of 3 wk so that I have enough time to get my immune system where it needs to be.  Besides that life is still grand and loving every minute.

Jer, my mom read where Echinacea helps boost the immune system as well as ginseng so she bought some supplements and gives me echinacea twice a day for like 3 or 4 days and then gives me a rest for a few days and then we start all over again.  She read that it is good to have a break in between if you take echinacea so that is why we break for a few days in between.  I still love my special diet and all the good things my mom puts in it and so far so good.  I lost a little bit of weight but not much so I am maintaining my weight also pretty good.

So this is the latest on me.....hope that you are all doing well and I am glad my mom is back so that we can share and look at the site again.  Has anyone heard from Charlie Brown?   CHARLIE....where are you!

Kellie, glad to hear you're doing so well. My mum thinks Echinacea is great stuff, she even uses it when she has a cold!

Hi Kellie - we seem to be on close chemo schedules...and we're having the same type of chemo done too!!! I've had 2 so far - one every 3 weeks, my CBC's have been OK in between...mom gives me echinacea too and 2000mg of fish oil in my food (I'm 68 pounds). I have a hard time taking the large pills, so she cuts each pill and drains the oil into my food. Her best friend is a Vet and told her that fish oil also helps boost the immune system.

Also...mom requests antibiotics from the Vet immediately after chemo to help fight off a potential low white blood cell count...I think all this has helped me keep my immune system up...oh yeah and green beans as a snack! I love those 🙂

I'm also a little tired after Chemo...mom takes the day off when I have a treatment and we love to nap on the couch. Nothing like TLC to make a dawg feel like a million bucks.

I get my xrays done next week before my third chemo treatment - mom's a little nervous, but I tell her I'm fine - why do our pawrents worry so much?

Oh yeah...there is another treatment that my doctor recommended that seems to help with this type of cancer...pamidrinite (I don't think i spelled that right - but that's how it sounds) which is some sort of treatment given by IV after chemo is complete that is supposed to help strengthen my bones and continue to fight off the cancer...2 treatements once a month for 2 months. I'll remind mom to check all the details when she comes home from work and let you know more specifics...or you can have your mom ask your doctor.

Get some rest Kellie - talk soon!

Paws forever

Hi Kelli,

I'm glad to hear all is going well.  I will be starting my chemo on Monday for my Osteosarcoma.  They are using Carboplatin and Doxorubicin for my therapy. My mom has also started giving me flaxseed and omega 3 oil in my food.(you can buy a bottle of pure oil at walmart). She has read that both oils are good to fight off cancer.

Good luck with your treaments and we will talk soon!

Hello Gang, how is every one doing? Just wanted to give you an update on my chemo sessions. Today I had my 3rd session and it went very well. I also had bloodwork done and chest x-rays. They told my pawrents that everything looks pawtastic that I was doing very well and with my paws crossed I only need one more chemo session and then I AM DONE!!! Whoof Whoof. I did start to feel a bit pewnie this afternoon and threw up my breakfast so tonight I just had some cottage cheese and am feeling much better.

Another treat I got yesterday (well they say if for me but I think my mom is just dying to share) was a POOL!!!! It has been so hot and humid here in HOTATLANTA that we went to WalMart yesterday and got one of those 3ft X 30 inches pool and filled it out. My mom got me in the pool with her and boy I froze to begin with (heck that water was COLD was in the world was she thinking Surprised) But after a while it was nice and I just relaxed with her. It was fun and I did exercise a little bit doing some swimming.

The Healing Art of Pet Parenthood

I am such a happy girl and after my mom has been reading me the book by Nadine Rosin (The Healing Art of Pet Parenthood
) she has decided that our next goal is to keep me and my brothers healthy and loved. That if Buttons made it to 18 young years....I could too. So yep cross them paws and eyes and LETS DO IT !!!!! Love you all and feel so blessed to have all of you for friends. Tongue out Lots of licks...Kellie

Right on Kellie, your pawsitive energy ROCKS! Thank you so much for the update, we are so glad to hear it.

Stay cool in that neat pool of yours. Send us some photos, sounds like fun! I used to hate to swim, but not anymore. I love water!

And thanks for the scoop on that very neat book.

Love,

Jerry

Thanks for the update Kellie - we are so happy that you're doing well. I had my last chemo treatment last week and we are happy to have that behind us.  I love the pool idea - I'll have to see if Mom will go buy me one too. I'll just give her that look that I practice everyday in the mirror...you know, the pathetic, I'm deprived and I really want a pool - look. LOL - I know how to work my mommy!

Have fun in the pool and send some good pics when you have a chance.

xo

Love,

Zeus
