Angel had her front leg amputation due to cancer on July 26. She has had two rounds of chemo, with two more to go. The chemo has gone extremely well with no real side effects except a bit of decrease of appetite on the following day. Angel's a mellow doggie, and while she was energetic when she was young, she has been my senior citizen for a few years, so her lifestyle hasn't changed much since the amputation. She had her tenth birthday last week, and she uneventfully spent it hangin in our apartment and munching on her favorite, boiled chicken. While I type this very calmly, I obsessively worry and cry often while reading posts and blogs of other tripawds heartbreaking and heartwarming stories. My goal is to live in the moment and enjoy every day I have with her, and while I try to do this, I sometimes fall in the "WHY US" mode, but then she looks at me and I remember to love her every moment and know that we are a team. Angel looks crabby in her pictures, but that's just her pitbull/sharpei look, and it doesn't match her sweet personality. I am grateful for tripawd members who share their stories and advice, as I would be pretty uniformed and a nervous wreck without it.
Angel you don't look a bit crabby! So happy to hear you are doing so well. Keep snuggling with your Mom and if she cries they are tears of love.
Take care-
