OOOOOOMMMMMMDDDDDD!!! JAAAAAKE!!! You are the best tree climbing dawg I've ever seen!! You are definitely in your element and completely focused on loving in the NOW!! Those squirrels and Chipmunks better learn how to climb higher and fast!!!
Clearly Jake has springs hidden in his paws!! Jist be careful sweet boy. Don't climb too high and come down on those rear legs too hard, okay? Haha! As if he's listening!!!
Such a great video again, of how happy a dawg can be on three!! Sooo happy to see this boy sooo happy!!😎

Hi everyone! Yesterday was Jake's 3 month ampuversary. He is doing awesome and thought it was high time I posted some videos. Thanks everyone for your support. Jake took right to his carriage much to the dismay of my husband and neighbors. He jumps in and out at will when he's tired or wants to be where the action is. I take it in the neighborhood or in the truck or my SUV (the wheels come off easy) to go further. I'm so happy I got it. I felt that I wanted to be able to go a distance without worrying that Jake was over doing it. I ended up buying the DoggyRide Novel Dog Jogger-Stroller.
I went to a rehab visit with Jake a month ago. I was given some exercises to do with Jake and some message techniques. I am trying to be faithful with them but have slipped a bit. I must be better with this. I cancelled the second visit because I had company and need to reschedule it. I must admit I'm not that crazy about spending money on acupuncture or the digatherm thermal imaging. Perhaps I need to educate myself more. I'm not convinced he needs all this. But, he's only three and I realize that I must be proactive so he ages as gracefully as he can.
Jake is the same dog he has always been. He walks a shorter distance then jumps in the carriage when he gets tired. The only difference is I can't take him for long walks into the woods off road because I can't take the carriage. I tried it once and it was agony. So this is a small price to pay to have Jake by my side keeping my life interesting and fun!
The videos will be in the next post.
HOPPY AMPUVERSARY JAKE! What a blast you are having out there, living the life! Thank you for showing the world that life on three can be terrific.
Your videos just made me smile BIG It's so fun seeing you hop into your chariot and go for a swim. I wish I could be there with you, it looks like so much fun!
About the rehab therapy . . . I can see your point about not being certain that Jake needs those things. I would wonder too. For Wyatt Ray , our goal has always been to follow programs that we can do at home, and of course, be able to pay for when we do take him im. It's important to be clear with your therapist about what you are able to do on your own, both physically and time-wise, and what you are willing to pay for. There's no shame in that and a good therapist understands that success comes from working as a team with the parent to achieve the goals. Be sure to have a conversation if you haven't already.
I'm so glad life is good for Jake! Thanks for stopping by and making us . Keep on enjoying this crazy summer!

Hi Connie! Thanks so much for the update! I love seeing Jake living his best life right by your side. He looks so very happy swimming and so confident jumping in his stroller! I agree with you about knowing if the rehab is worth it. What I found with Griffin was that having occasional deep massage therapy by a professional benefited him immediately in terms of his fluidity of movement and overall flexibility. I was going to a canine rehabilitation therapist, but recently switched Griffin back to a rehab vet because I'm able to coordinate the rehab with his chemo treatment sbut also because his insurance will pay only for treatments provided by a vet, not a therapist. As Jerry said, if you can form a team with the rehab therapist, occasional visits to keep you both on track might be worth it. Seeing Jake in those videos makes me greedy for more, so please check in again when you can! Stacy
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
Made my day!! Seeing Jake soooo happy just lights up our world!!😎 Quite a good swimmer too!
A very smart boy to have already figured out all the advantages of having his stroller at his beckoning call😎
HAPPY THREE MONTH AMPUVERSARY JAKE!! Thanks for inviting us to the celebration!

Here is to many many more Ampuversary!!!
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!

"March Saint"
Hi everyone. September 21 was Jake’s 5 month ampuversary. Here is a video of him doing his favorite thing, digging a hole 🙂
He is doing great and is an absolute joy ( most of the time 😉). When he runs you’d never know he was missing a leg. He loves his walks and loves his carriage. I was babying him and he started to add a couple of pounds so I’ve backed off and am letting him run more, etc. I hope I don’t regret it down the road. I realize I need him to just live and enjoy life. I’ve got the carriage figured out and know my limitations with it ( after some tough off trail walks). We have lots of class 6 roads so enough walks to keep things spiced up. Often on the walks Jake wants to dig after a chippy, so I get caught up on my reading in the woods while Jake digs. I figure, whatever makes him happy.
As a refresher, Jake had a soft tissue sarcoma in the elbow. The oncologist said it hadn’t spread to the lungs and if we excised the limb relatively soon we could consider the cancer gone (soft tissue sarcoma doesn’t tend to spread quickly). The surgeon didn’t think follow up X-rays necessary. So I guess that’s that. If anyone feels otherwise feel free to let me know.
As I see it, my biggest challenge is to help Jake age well.
I’ll try to start a blog ( with Jerry and Admin’s help🙏). I’m not great with technology. Sad to admit I’m not even sure how to post a picture of Jake, only videos 😬
Thanks everyone for being here.
Hi Connie! I love that video of Jake - you can see both how determined he is and how much fun he is having! It sound like you have figured out a good balance for walks/rides to make sure Jake stays healthy but doesn't put too much stress on his front leg. And I can't wait for you to start a blog! I had never written one before Tripawds, so I'm happy to help you, too! Once you start with that process, it will be easier for you to post photos as you can house them in the media library on your blog. The one big tip I have is to make sure that you resize your photos to the smallest version (right click on the photo, select resize, select small) so that you don't quickly use up all the space in your media library. I didn't do that in the beginning and ran out of room after just a few photos were uploaded! Sending big hugs to you and Jake! Stacy

LOVE that boy! Oh my gosh, watching him dig brings back so many memories of when we first saw Moose, the three-legged Dane digging for gophers. The moment we saw him having a ball, that's when we knew that if that big dog could be hoppy on three, so could Jerry. And now, here's Jake, doing the same, inspiring countless others to give their dog a chance at a hoppy life after amputation. You and Jake are rock stars!
Super duper congratulations on this milestone! You are managing so well and staying so in tune with his activity and fitness needs. Yes, keeping him fit and injury free is the biggest challenge for you guys. We discovered the same over the last eleven years raising Wyatt Ray . But stick with us and we'll keep sharing expert information that can help you make good decisions to keep him mentally and physically fit. You're doing great!
I'm more than hoppy to give you a phone tutorial on adding pics if you'd like! Just PM me and we can arrange a time OK? Seriously, if you figured out YouTube you can do pix, no problem!

A long overdue post on Jake. Stacy encouraged me to post. Jake and Griffin have the same month ampuversary. Stacy said she’d love to hear how Jake is. I’ll commit to more updates to give others strength also.
On the 21st it will be Jake’s 10 month ampuversary. He continues to make me smile everyday. This is him at the barn where his barn buddies live. He loves it there! His carriage is a godsend! He jumps in it when he’s tired.
I got him some food puzzles that he guards and protects but won’t play and eat the food. He even growls at his brother. Odd. They are Nina ottoson outward hound level 1&2. Anyone else have this issue?
I thank everyone for your love and support!
