So when I first adopted Hazel when she was a spritely 7 year old I very quickly figured out that she didn't have the best grasp of object permanence. When I say not the best grasp I mean I could hold a treat in one hand and place my hand in front of the treat and as far as Hazel was concerned, that treat no longer existed... until I moved the second hand away of course.

So I started playing games with her to try and help, placing a treat on the floor then a tissue on the top then it was a blanket. We even have toys that require her to spin a dial to open the hatch for a treat! She's caught on pretty well after 3 years but we did worry she wouldn't be able to play these games as a tripawd... So she decided to prove us all wrong and find her favourite treat (a whimzee) from under her towel!

Hope you enjoy!

OMD!!  I WQS CHEERING FOR HAZEL TO GET THAT TREAT!!  And clapping loudly  and yelling   YAAAAAY  right along with you!!!👏👏  And that tail wagging had me grinning ear to ear!!

I am soooo glad some of the financial  stress is off your shoulders.  And it also says a lot about  the high regard friends and family hold you, and Hazel too!😎

We are all so in love with Hazel.  She is mighty lucky to have you as her hooman ❤

She looks great playing her game!!! That is an excellent exercise for her too.

I'm glad the $$$ stress has been relieved. With everything to worry about with recovery you don't need that over your head too.

Hazel and I are totally overwhelmed by all the love and support we've received, we wouldn't have made it through this journey without you all sp_hearticon2

Hazel is a very happy lady and would love to give you all kisses for being wonderful and supportive!

We've been making ice lollies this week to help beat the heat in the UK. Lovely fruit smoothie ones for mummy and chicken stock with blueberries for Hazel. Hazel gets so excited every time we get her one from the freezer, we think she's convinced she's getting human food as a treat!

Do you have any good tips for keeping your tripawds cool?

We sp_hearticon2you Hazel! What a sweet, totally smoochable doggie you are!

I love that you're getting the smoothies, they sound delicious.  Care to share a recipe and photos in Eating Healthy?  I can't recall the last time someone made a smoothie for their pup, I love that idea.

Do you have any good tips for keeping your tripawds cool?

Great question! Sure! How's this:

Tripawd Banana Pops

and also:

The Ruffwear Swamp Cooler Jacket

It's a nice way to keep your pup from overheating on hot days. Wyatt Ray loves his!

I had an impromptu hospital visit yesterday with the ambulance being called in the early hours of the morning... (I've had severe asthma my whole life so this is a semi regular occurance) and Hazel was so good. She proved how much of her PTSD therapy training she could still do even after losing her leg, she really is just a magical dog sp_hearticon2

I was home by the evening and am having lots of rest and cuddles. I just feel so blessed having Hazel in my life.

Having problems breathing must be scary. I hope you are feeling better today.

Hazel has the sweetest face. She clearly feels well-loved and confident to give you loving and comfort when needed. You are a good team!

Hugs and take care,

Nyoom - So glad you are back home and getting love from the amazing Hazel!  What a good girl!  sp_hearticon2 Stacy

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

Hazel as been so snuggly since I came home sp_hearticon2

https://www.ins.....xaabm5xt2t

We've been playing lots of games, the kong is a current favourite. I can't believe how much happier and stronger Hazel has become since the amputation. 2 months ago I thought I was going to lose her any day... and now she's her old playful fun self.

It's so hard to believe she still has cancer, and I know I'll lose her eventually but I'm just so greatful for the time this operation has given us.

So give all your pets a cuddle and a treat from me, and celebrate the time we all have together.

We've had a bit of a wobble this week.

We found a new lump on Hazels side close to her amputation scar with a lot of bruising around the edges, very similar to the original MCT on her leg. Took her to the vets yesterday and they've done some FNAs on a few different sites and we should get the results in a few days. I'm trying my best to remain hopeful even though her cancer had metastasised already before. Hazel's mood and behaviour are no different from normal at least, we're still having lots of playtime and cuddles! She doesn't seem like a sick dog at all.

Still it's made me think about what I want to do when she passes, and to make up a plan so I don't have to make decisions while also emotionally dealing with the loss. I think I'd like to have her cremated and scatter the ashes at her favourite beach in Formby. A beach we plan to visit a lot over the coming weeks, and really pamper our wobbly princess.

I want to find ways to remember her, like making a indentation of her paws or even just an ink press of them, do you have any ideas of memorials like that?

Cuddle your pets extra close for me,

nyoom sp_hearticon2
