If I remember correctly, Griffen is 75% poodle. Out of the top 10 dog breeds for the smartest breed poodle comes in second right behind border collie. So that is quite impressive!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

It's always a good day when I see Griffin out there having fun. He's Mr. Pawsonality smiley16

You're so right about his gait, what an important indicator that he's feeling good. Another reason why rehab is so good for Tripawds.

How many portions of the food does Griffin eat in one setting? Have you shared the recipe? I can't recall but if not Eating Healthy would be a good place for it if you're inclined 😉

P.S. I would love to save your videos to our YouTube Channel but they're marked as "Made for Kids" in the back end when you upload them, so YouTube won't let me save them to our playlists. Don't know if you meant to do that but I thought I'd mention it.

Hi Jackie and Nancy! - Griffin is very smart but more than that, he is very intuitive.  He watches my body language and listens to phrases I often say to figure out what I mean.  He amazes me sometimes when he does something I ask as though we have practiced it. smiley16  ~ Stacy

Hi Jerry - I think it is a new feature that YouTube asks you to identify if your videos are made for kids or not, but I didn't realize it would show that label in the background, so I changed the audience for all my videos to remove that label.  Did you see it on just this one or on all videos I've uploaded?  Also, I have all of Griffin's videos set to "unlisted" so that only people with the link can view.  I don't know why you would not be able to upload the videos to your channel since you have the link to all of them.  Let me know if it works now that I have changed the audience or if I have to change the video setting to "public".  Also, I did post about Griffin's food in the Eating Healthy forum under the topic of Easy, Home Cooked Recipe, although I should update it as I've pared down the recipe just a bit.  Griffin gets 1 cup of kibble (Taste of the Wild) + 1/3 can wet food (American Journey) in the morning and 1 cup of his home cooked meals (ground meat + veggies + supplements) in the afternoons. smiley4 ~ Stacy

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com

Hey Stacy, all good, thanks for changing that setting! I'm now able to save them to our playlists. Thank you!

And duhhhh I forgot you posted the recipe there. I'll hop over there now.

Hi Stacy!

Wow Griffin looks so good. I am catching up now with everyone's progress, as I have been so busy the past 2 weeks.

Griffin certainly looks like he is unstoppable. I think seeing how he is improving with PT is really cool. Looks like you guys are also having great summer weather! Here we are in the second heat wave already this year (between 90-100F!). Arktik has been enjoying playing in the water a little (just dipping his paws in and playing with frogs 🙂

We don't actually download and then upload them to our channel, the URL just gets shared on our Tripawds Playlists. Hope that makes sense. We put Griffin's in "Jerry's Friends." Now that I think about it though, I'm not sure if others can see his video because his are marked as private. If anyone reading this cares to check out the link and tell me (while not being logged into YouTube), let me know!

Hi Patricia!  Griffin is doing well overall, but the heat is definitely slowing him down.  We are heading to my Dad's house next weekend where Griffin will love hanging out in the pool.  I can't wait to see him swimming!  We are sending cool breezes your way - and Griffin said to tell Arktik it is more fun to jump in all the way instead of just dipping your toes in the water! sp_hearticon2 Stacy

Griffin is the cutest! I've noticed Kinzi doing a similar gait walking around the house. Glad to know it's not weird. Her run is still a hop like a bunny though. sp_hearticon2

I've been missing the exercise I used to get taking her for walks. Happy to see Griffin and you taking care of wellbeing!

Could be waaaay off on this, but I think the faster a front legger runs. the more you will see the gait is the "hop" more.  My Happy Hannah was a rear legger, but Frankie is a front legger.  Of course, the fact that he's had three surgeries on his back legs may be why he kinda hops-skips.....back legs when running fast are kinda like the back leg  bunny hop.   Plus, one of those legs  his cruciate aurgery failed .   So, he's not the best example of "normal"......on so many levels!

Hahaha Sally! This is why we love them so much sp_hearticon2

Stacy, I will transfer the message from Griffin to Arktik..but I doubt he will go for a real swim (on a positive side..it might be best as it takes forever for his fur to dry icon_rolleyes ).

As we are now officially in the summer season, the days are growing warmer and in NYC, that means more humidity as well.  On the humid days, Griffin's energy is sapped much more quickly, so I was especially appreciative of Rene's post on Tripawds about cooling vests.  I purchased the Ruffwear Jet Stream vest in size medium, which Griffin is proudly modeling below!  I wasn't sure how the vest would actually cool him off if after soaking it I am supposed to wring it out, but the vest really did hold onto the water in the gray section.  It wasn't a particularly hot day when he first tried it out, but he seemed to like it.  I like that his back is covered because he has a dark spot where his hair hasn't grown back all the way (his oncologist said the dark spot can be a side effect of chemo with light colored dogs) and because his regular harness fits easily over the cooling vest.

We traveled to Long Island yesterday to visit my Dad and Donna.  Since the first floor of their house is all hardwood floors, I fitted Griffin with toe caps on all 4 front nails and on the 2 longest back nails on each of his hind legs to help provide grip.  They seem to be working quite well - he is able to get up easily without scrambling.  The toe caps also are good protection for the pool liner!

As soon as we arrived at the house, Griffin made a beeline for the pool!  So, I buckled him into his life jacket, and off he went!  Afterwards, I was able to dry him off using the special, personalized towel that my dear friend Virginia gifted to Griffin!

I hope your summer is off to a fun start like Griffin's!

Wel I was wondering when we were gonna have our   happy update from our Goodwill Ambassador of Fun !!  And he never disappoints  with his updates, pics and video!!

Yeah, the humidity  is a rough one for Tripawds, four leggers and hoomans too !!   Vit clearly Griffin knows how to keep himself cool😎

Interesting  to know avout the cooling vest.  You are always so gracious about sharing tips

I had soooo much fun watching  him in the pool.  He was very careful getting in making sure he didn't  slip while he checked  out the water temperature.  Everything  he does is so graceful....so fluid.

His custom designed  towel is brilliant!  OMD!  So cute!

Thanks for sharing  some of Griffin's vacay!  Keep it coming!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
