Aw! Â What a good guy! Â And what a handsome brother he has too. Â
Glad you guys got through the scary and disoriented part and are in the safe and loved and figuring it all out part.  The serious pain control meds etc in his system probably don't help with trying to figure out how to stand up, either.  Older cats seem to sleep right through most of that, but younger ones want to get up and go and find out 'it's not working!'
What a great story with the litterbox! Â Gosh I'm sure Purrkins felt a lot more settled and comfortable after that.
Thank you for all the pictures! Â Purrkins looks like he's doing great. Â And that onsie is adorable. Â Great work.
-Lith and Moe cat
Thank you Lith and Moe,
Scary, disoriented, yep those and I'd add several more words to the first hour or two. LOL After that things have gone all uphill for us.
We are still learning and the litter box is still tough for him. We did the same thing this morning held his one side up. I'm still letting him do everything just guiding his way and if unstable I help him. Both our guys are private normally going to the litter box don't like to be seen or bothered. Â So this has gotta be rough for him. He is a trooper to say the least! We are in awe! Â
Purrkins has quieted down a lot and rested yesterday almost the entire day. I was happy for him. He needed to sleep! Today he was up for a few hours this morning and doing well. He gets so excited doing. Then it hits him! I'm tired heads his way back to his closet. He has made that his safe place. Guess where Im sleeping lol.Â
We are waiting on pathology report. We have high hopes his cancer left with the leg and stays gone!
I have to go back and read about everyone, still getting to know who is who and each story .
Moe is a sweetheart. Tuxedo like Purrkins brother! Â Im glad to see him doing so well!
Hugs to you bothÂ
Wow, what a sweetie! Saxton is probably smelling all of the hospital/medicine smells on Purrkins & that's what's bothering him. There was someone on here about a year or so ago with a cat ... that cat had a really hard time adjusting...I think I remember her posting that the cat would pee everywhere except the litter box, was going crazy from the medications, and just wasn't going well -recovery was a long road for her, but finally everything settled down. So I'm glad that even though it's going slow, it's not going bad.
Kisses to Purrkins!

Thank You Donna,
Yes on Saxton and all the hospital smell, but its definitely more then that with Purrkins . We took Purrkins out for fresh air I carried him out of course and Mark carried Saxton out we thought that would be good to let them get a good smell safely. Saxton  got a smell of him and hissed  . Mark took Saxton back in. This will be interesting with them.
We are thrilled with all Purrkins progress they are all celebrations! I didn't expect him to do as well as he has. Im amazed with him.
I was prepared for the peeing because he didn't go in the box at hospital ,I got wee wee pads before he got home. Glad we don't need them. Pricey wee wee pads so Ill find a use for them lol.
Ill take slower any day . Id rather he rest and heal and when we gets off his pain meds that will help I'm certain.Â
I hope this works. I found this video on you tube and wanted to share  it It would be nice for any new or going to be tripawd kitty parents! Wasn't sure where I should post it .Â
I posted the link on Purrkins blog also. I found it trying to learn how to post the videos. I have some free time on my hands with Purrkins resting.
Pawesome! Thanks for sharing.

Very cute video!! A fun day in the life of a tripawd!! I think you need to make one starring Purrkins once he gets his game on!! 🙂
And Saxton, you be nice!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Purrkins has one dose of his Buprenorphine left. He was doing really good on 10.5 hours apart. Yesterday I pushed it to 12 hours knowing we were almost done with it.
Purrkins was in pain he starting meowing and  growled at me and wouldn't let me near him. Theres no doubt he was in pain. Then again this morning .
His inicison couldn't look better no oozing no discoloration. I called MSU this a.m. to talk to the surgeon we can't stop these meds right now. I'm still waiting on his call. Surgery all day. Purrkins is still on the gabapentin every 8 hours. Is there any time frame with cats on pain meds? I saw with dogs some are 14 days on pain meds.
Will see what surgeon says can't imagine it would be a problem to get more pain meds.
Surgeon just called he's getting us some more pain meds for a few days. I can pick them up in the morning.
We go back and get stiches out next Wednesday.
We got pathology report back on Purrkins leg! Soft tissue sarcoma , low grade and we have CLEAN margins!
So much relief! Wanted to share that Fantastic news and apologize for the panic above. Watching him in pain hurts and didn't want that to even happen.
Thank you all for being here truly! The before during and after!
This was the hardest decision the had to make and the TRIPAWDS and family made the difference for us!
Please know what a blessing you guys are and how grateful we are!Â
Holly, Mark, Purrkins and SaxtonÂ
YAY for clean margins! That's fantastic.
You never need to apologize for posting, panicking or whatever, we totally understand your worries! I'm happy that your vet was able to prescribe more pain medication. As you've learned, there is no timeframe really, all animals, just like people, are different. There are only general guidelines and experiences but each animal is an individual.
You're so wonderful for staying on top of his pain medication and watching him carefully, yay for you!

Thank you, I know you guys understand!
That was one of many of my fears he would be in pain and suffer. Â So glad the surgeon agreed we need more meds . I can breathe easier now and know we got it taken care of. Â
I will have to take Purrkins on a road trip to pick up the medication. Hopefully he wont mind
We can look forward to growing old with Purrkins and Saxton! What a great relief that is!Â
HAPPY DANCE GOING ON ALL OVER TRIPAWD LAND!! 🙂 YIPPEEEE. SKIPPPEEEE!!! 🙂
A d OMC, as Jerry said, NEVER apologize for getting scared or panicked on this journey!!! It's part of the jkur ey and we u understand that far too well! In fact, it would hurt our feedings if you tried to ignore it and feel panicked all by yourself! We eat panic arpu d here like it's cotton candy! Gobble! Gooble!
My Happy Hannah stayed on her pain meds for three weeks, while "many" stay on two weeks". So when it comes to pain meds, the only "norm" is what your cat or dog needs based on their own individuality.
Extra catnip and ear scratches tonight!
