I am so sorry to hear that you are faced with this decision. We are facing the same choice with only a 4 year old English bulldog. It is never easy regardless of the age. We have now consulted with 4 vets - 2 regular vets, one oncologist and one board certified surgeon who has done many, many amputations. All of them are in agreement and still, the decision is so hard. My heart is with you as you go through this. Please at least consult with an oncologist - the more info you have to make a decision, the better. It is a very, very costly decision - financially and emotionally. Go with your heart. In the end you know your dog and family best.

Welcome and thanks for joining. Please consider starting a new topic so we can get to know Mack's story. Looks like you started a blog so we'll go check that out now.

4 days past the 1st chemo, and he was doing alright. Today he's been really mopey and hasn't had much energy to walk on (his back end sags to the ground). Hasn't had any other affects from it, so I wonder if it's starting to kick in?
PS: how do I change the title of this thread?
If it is effects from chemo it is not unusual to have them start several days after. Maggie was on a different chemo for a different type of cancer, she would be slower and not so hungary about 6 or 7 days after her treatment.
I don't think you can change a topic title. I would suggest you start a new thread under the Treatment, Recovery and Ongoing Care forum. That way other members will have a better idea of what part of the journey you are on and better answer questions or offer advice.

Only us admins and the Mod Pawd can change topic titles. I suggest taking karens advice to start a new topic now that you are no longer a "newbie", or start using Coach's blog to provide updates.
In case you haven't seen it, our chemotherapy session video includes Dr. Mona Rosenberg describing when chemotherapy side effects most often occur.
